Osteoporozis
Like the big tower in IC. You can see it from almost anywhere if there's nothing between you and the tower. I know there's an option in the CS for something like this but, I didn't notice a difference. What can I do to make an object like that?
David Brasher
The option "visible when distant" does not work unless you generate distant LOD files. (Or something like that.) I think you have to have a reasonably powerful computer and time to let the computer work. Like you can set the computer running and go do something else. You also have to know the tricks, which I have not figured out yet. In a new worldspace, I got trees to be visibly distant, but nothing else. So all these trees appeared to be floating in midair until I got close enough to see the hills. Some of the tutorials also talk about modeling. Like if you have a custom building you want seen from a distance, for best performance, you might need to create some lo-res small models of the building to be seen from far away. So I guess what I am saying is that it is hard, and would be worth it only if you really really want it.
Osteoporozis
Ah, that's a shame... I'll just have to go on without it.Thanks for the quick response.
Vagrant0
Most vanilla meshes have _far versions created within Really Everything Visible When Distant (REVWD). Then the Lod objects files can be generated for every mesh placed in the worldspace that has a _far.nif with TES4LODgen... However due to how only one version of these files can exist, this is something that the user would need to do to see your object in the distance (as well as everything else). So, it depends on what the object is and how good the user's PC is. Having too many distant objects can really kill performance though. The flags in the CS are generally useless as they're only used to create those lod files and are not used directly. Osteoporozis
Ah... I'll look into that. I'm not really making a mod here, I'm just playing around with the CS, trying to learn by trying stuff and asking for help when I can't find it anywhere else.
