jedimarine
Been loading mods for about 3 months now...some EXCELLENT stuff in there. But I find the vast majority of it does a fantastic job of improving the look, or providing a rest stop from the game...but little expands the game itself. By far, the most successful mod to both provide a tangible reward to the player, and expand the play experience was Glenvar Castle. Kvatch Rebuilt also was impressive with it's expansion. Though once the city is complete, some in town quests would be helpful. but beyond that...there really aren't a whole lot of mods that actually expands the game. Now, lord knows I don't need any more dungeon crawls...that gets old. But quests that have you hoping around the map, mysteries, maybe earning loyalty of an NPC...SOMETHING! I'd love some NPCs that don't adore me (as I'm level 40 with 150+ fame). I'd like to have to really play the game, instead of "going hunting" or "cave running". The in game quests are done...the few mod quests are done. Are there any really good story expanding mods out there? I've seen that "Mythic Dawn Reborn" thing...but it seems more appropriate for an infamous character. Is it high enough quality to be worthwhile? I tried starting a second character, but the repetition so soon after my first character ended that quick. I just want more game! Am I gonna have to be nickeled and dimed by Bethesda to get it? Balakirev
Lots of quest mods, if that's what you want. Look here: TOQL. Note that many things on the list have their own websites as well, and threads over at the Bethsoft forums where you can often get a sense how well they play. Here's a selection of the ones I've got loaded and am very, very slowly wading through: WindfallBartholmDexwood Family SagaLost Sword of the AyleidHeart of the DeadQuest for the ElementsWellspring GroveLiberation of CybiadesThe Lost SpiresTears of the FiendDremora Companion Have fun! jedimarine
FANTASTIC Thanks for the link...much more helpful in detail and description then the nexus (no offense, I love the nexus!) Exactly what I was after. Thanks!
Jenrai
You might also want to look at Kragenir's Death Quest, and the rural line additions (same mod). Add a lot of things to do and people to interact with, and make a lot of the very boring & repetitive contact with NPCs a lot less so.Also, Simyaz' (author of Tears of the Fiend) other quests are well worth a nosey. Ruined Tales Tail in particular. Jenrai.
jedimarine
I've looked at Ruined Tail's Tale a couple times. I was initial turned off because I learned that the companion dies...but at the time I was searching for companion mods. Are the quests worthwhile, otherwise? Balakirev
Might want to hold off a month on Kragenir's--I am, because the modder is supposed to be releasing a major update later this month.
Vagrant0
The problem is really that this sort of stuff is really something that is best handled by a large mod, but most people either don't want to work on large mods or seem determined to just make their own and get nowhere. It's a shame really.
jedimarine
I can understand that. To have big vision...you have to have lots of hands...but especially for a project done entirely on a volunteer basis...everyone wants to have a piece of the vision... And in the internet era...we all have high opinions of our own visions. :mage: So community obstructs vision. and yet. If one remains an island...a man and a dream...that dream may never become tangible to the rest of us. sigh. If only we had holodecks.
JCP768
Branimirzg WHERE ARE YOU!? A little joke :) From the linked topic:Check here quest mods review http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=157600&hl=Thanks for keeping it alive. :) Also I posted a similar review list here. That focusing more on immersion. I'd definitely recommend Integration if you're looking for "more quests, more factions, more game." Over 80 quests around 4 or 5 new joinable factions, over 24 hours of silent dialogue, and... well I forget what gameplay times were estimated at something like 25 hours or 60 hours, or 100 hours. regardless it's a very repayable mod due to multiple solutions, race checks, and all that good stuff. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend Kragenir's, it's really just all more of the same. Dungeon crawling, fetch quests, and wandering aimlessly around town make up most of the quests in it I've played. His mod is a success at what he wanted to achieve; very roughly quoted: "Gives you something to do with dungeons and NPCs that there was nothing to do with before." It just didn't end up enjoyable for me, and at times it felt a little forced. Like when someone tells you to help them with a problem involving their friends around town and then they don't even give you a list of their friends.... It felt like it was done entirely so that a few underbelly types could have lines like "Pah, like I'd be friends with that uppity high society type!"Sorry if that comes across as too harsh, or anything I'm just rambling and giving the basic opinion on the mod. You may want to check out my search word on bethsoft forums. Search: azerbagbI'm not very fond of dungeon crawls and such either, and "azerbagb" is a word I use to categorize all "any mods?" type topics. If you are looking non-standard experiences there are some real jewels of topics like this one In general I'd like to recommend: LAME's PaperchaseVows and CovenantsAll mods by Simyaz( The guy who made: "ruined tails tale")WindfallAlyeid StepsThe Blackwood company(note: not "evil", but at least jackass oriented)The Sentient weaponsEt in Arkay Ego (this one is ALL talking...)And of course the aforementioned Integration. Those mods might have some dungeon crawling, and some fetch quests, but in my opinion they have other unique and interesting aspects that make up for it. Also note that the first two aren't quests; they're gameplay mods that border on being quests... kind of.
