Balakirev
You'll definitely want to check out Malevolent if you want a very atypical, roleplay-intensive quest mod, then.
jedimarine
Thanks for your input, everyone. Right now I'm looking at Malevolent, Windfall, and Ivellon to start off. Thoughts on these? "Integration" looks a little daunting to me...I've avoided mods that do drastic overhauls to the core game...and not being a big magic user (I think I beat the mages guild quest casting only 4 or 5 spells...and 3 of those were on that pillar puzzle)...I'm not overly concerned about LAME, which is required for "Integration". JCP768
Thanks for your input, everyone. Right now I'm looking at Malevolent, Windfall, and Ivellon to start off. Thoughts on these? "Integration" looks a little daunting to me...I've avoided mods that do drastic overhauls to the core game...and not being a big magic user (I think I beat the mages guild quest casting only 4 or 5 spells...and 3 of those were on that pillar puzzle)...I'm not overly concerned about LAME, which is required for "Integration".That has nothing to do with Magic, that's just how lame and combat based the Mages Guild is. You could go through the entire thing with a warrior who knows nothing, but the spells that were given to him. Also even if you're not a magic user LAME is still useful, even if it's nothing more than making enemy mages more of a challenge. I was afraid of RBP and LAME too when I started beta testing for Integration over a year ago, but after I got them I never looked back. Also don't worry about bugs or compatibility, bg is very big on his mods being "clean". Also Remember the name: Integration, it's designed to fit seamlessly in the world. You wont get annoying quest updates, or see hundreds of Daedra walking around town. It's main focus is integration, immersion, and lore as well as the gameplay direction which adds itself to that. I'm not sure what else I can say to convince you... You could watch a few of my walkthrough videos and see if it suits you (just ignore the fact that I'm trying to be zany and funny in them) *WARNING SPOILERS* (the first one, not very spoilery) and well.... the rest are pretty spoilery, but you can check them out if you want. --------------------------------------Ivellon is pretty much a dungeon crawl, with hack-and-slash boss fights, but it does make up for that with it's setting, as well s the puzzles/riddles. Windfall is great, went there the start of my game with one character and I ended uo spending over 30 hours in Windfall. Malevolent.... you've completed the vanilla main quest I take it? If you have well then have fun, and watch out for the rare bug or two.
David Brasher
It is a great problem that people who want to mod get too ambitious. They want to work alone, but they want to make giant mods. So they end up not finishing. (And I am a fine one to talk because I am sitting on about three fairly large mods which are not finished.) I wish more people would make more small quest, adventure, and dungeon mods. Yes, they are hard to do and take awhile. But many people have the skill to make a four-stage quest or a three-cell dungeon that is quite fun and playable. Can you imagine how much new playtime there would be if every modder made and uploaded one mod like that? (And then supported the mod and received feedback on it and worked all the bugs out of it over time.) Then maybe these independent workers could start merging their mods into bigger mods without having to engage in too much teamwork.
