Katuko
that may be a clueNothing in FO3 could influence Battlefield gamesso its a common operating system function.I'm willing to bet that it has something to do with Windows LiveIn FO3nexus you can find at least 1 mod that remove GFWL from FO3 (or at least dummy up the ddl)since you have nothing to lose, give it a whirl.Alternately - update GFWL (microsoft site) That was my guess as well, that it was not related to the games themselves; especially since installing Windows 7 fixed the problems for a while. he clean install must have overwritten the errors (possibly a broken DLL or register value?) and the error that must have caused them in the first place only recently reoccurred without me noticing. I already got a GFWL disabler, but I'll try disabling the disabler (:P) and run again. Thanks. EDIT: Neither disabling or enabling GFWL helped, sadly. But thanks for the help so far. Do you have any other guesses as to what could be wrong?

Do you have any other guesses as to what could be wrong?I am having the same problem as everyone it seems. I uninstalled fallout. Moved the Fallout folder to another hard drive as backup. uninstalled Mod Manager, GFWL Disabler, FOSE, and Fallout Editor as best as I could. I then did a vanilla install of fallout. Followed the in menu update method(to 1.7). However, the game still crashes before getting to the menu. I previously had a modded fallout install with all of the dlc. My thoughts are that one of the modding software installs has changed a registry value for games for windows live and even unistalling everything did not remove it. I am too tired to uninstall everything and redo it once again tonight. Any help would be good. Thank you

This means that they overwrite the system files but do not change the registry or other files on the computer. For some reason, this fixed Fallout again. It has run smoothly ever since, even after I crashed it repeatedly by stupidly loading mods in the wrong order.
