A Multitude Of Mission-related Bugs...

I've never seen so many small-medium sized bugs in one game...

 

First one: I'm champion of the arena. I should be grand champion but it's not recognizing it...

In the last battle, knowing he was half vampire, I used fire arrows & a fire bow, 2 arrows to knock him down. At which point, I walked up to what I thought was the corpse to collect the armor. He wasn't dead, but said "Please just kill me" or something of the sort. So I took out a sword and killed him. Looted all his stuff. Went back to the woman who wanted his armor, and she keeps acting like I've challenged the grand champion, but haven't fought/defeated him yet. Doesn't matter if I'm wearing the armor or not, if I leave town or not, rest etc.

 

Second: I was a vampire for a while. After about a week I started to need to feed every 5-6 hours to keep from regressing into further states of vampirism - I've read that this should have been about 24 hours, not 5-6.

 

Third: Trying to cure my vampirism (due to the previous problem) I almost completed the cure quest. I got the 2 cure's from the witch, wen't back to the castle, the guy gave the potion to his wife who promptly fell over dead. I spoke with the argonian woman - I forget the name - and she said to come back in a day. 24 hours later I spoke to her in the hall, she said to wait there and she'd bring the duke(?). Waited for a while (about 20 hours), then I decided to speak to her again. She had gone back to the hidden chamber where the dead wife was, but the duke(?) wasn't htere anymore. Upon speaking to her she keps repeating the last thing she said, to wait where i was and she'd go get him - but she never moved.

 

Fourth: I'm now on a mages guild where I need to speak to the duke(?) from the previously mentioned problem. However I need to speak to the woman who's stuck to get to speak to him - obviously that's not working.

 

I've run into other smaller problems but these are ones that are stopping me from enjoying parts of the game altogether. Does anyone know how to fix these things?

Well, I got around the mages guild problem - turns out I could talk to the count directly about that mission (just still not the vampirism mission).

 

A few missions later I'm head of the mages guild... but I've hit a show-stopping bug this time around.

 

All signs of authority (all city guards & mages guild gattlemages) unseath their weapons when I approach, and look like they're hunting for someone. I can't talk to them.

I think this problem arose because I was wearing Nocturnals cowl when I fast travelled to the arcanum. Normally the battlemages there would try to arrest me, only they were busy fighting someone else at the time, so I ran by into the arcanum to finish a mission I was on. So - I think all guards and such are trying to talk to me to say whatever it is they say when they see the grey fox, however due to some bug of them having already been fighting someone, they can't "see" me.

I've tried donning the cowl again. I've tried getting caught committing other crimes. The good news here is I can attack and kill anyone I want, and all nearby guards and civilians will come to my aid and assist in the murder.

The bad news is I can't travel, wait, or rest because the game always says enemies are near by (even if they're not....).

Not being able to travel is a pain, not being able to wait is a pain... not being able to rest & level up is a game-stopping bug, even more so if my character was still a vampire.

 

So.... seeing as how all my gamesaves are quicksaves and autosaves, so i can't load a save from before this happened.... anyone have the slightest clue what to do? I've put quite some time into this game and I'd hate to lose it all. I am the:

Listener

Grey Fox

Arch-Mage

Hero of some town (can't remember which).

 

Finished 5 Oblivion gates.

At the point in the main story where I get troops from all the towns/cities.

Have 2 houses.

Expert Sneak.

Expert Security.

Expert Marksman.

etc etc
