Corrupted Saves..... On Every Save.

At first I thought it wasn't mod related because the problem was still there after un-ticking all of them in OBMM, but now I see that oblivion isn't working that way.

 

I tried installing oblivion with all the mods on different computer and then loaded my savegame from there. The problem still happened, so it can point, that the problem is mod-related (not drivers-operating system-hp printer-whatever), but there's also a possiblity that once that save got semi-corruted, it would stay that way no matter what and CTDs while using proved nothing. I didn't try a new game on that computer.

@mooncarver Now that you brought it up, I think it was Wrye that wrote the article on too many mods. And he created his ghost feature exactly for that problem.

Am I cursed or something? This thing is really getting me depressed. Oblivion is my favourite game, but I don't play it at all, i just keep trying to get it to work - family & friends are actually making fun of it, and my boyfriend keeps asking why I want to use these mods, if they are such trouble :verymad:

 

Anyway, I was thinking about what Quaxalot wrote, and only other thing that comes to my mind:

 

1. I used to have A LOT of savegames. I once read about them getting corrupted because of overwriting and took that very seriously. So my savegame folder used to be a few GB... but after first crashes I moved all the saves to a different location, and right now I'm keeping no more than 20-30 of them at time.

 

I don't know, if that could screw my current character - but I don't want to start a new game until i'm sure that was the cause, just to check it out - the idea, that the problem will happen again, after 30 h of playing, is somehow dreadful.

 

2. I used to alt-tab from time to time. I also used to have 90 firefox windows open when playing. Changed that, but nothing happened.

 

3. I haven't installed any codecs or updated drivers around the time when the problems began.

 

4. Wrye Bash showed a medium bloating in some of the savegames, but not all. Still: the not-bloating saves still had crashes, and with the bloated ones - the bloat-removing option didn't help in any way.

 

5. After crashes on saving, I checked out the error information. Most of them were boring oblivion crashed in oblivion sth (don't understand a thing from those :/), but sometimes they pointed out to an error in rundll32. I am quite a noob and didn't manage to interpret that, but maybe this is somehow important.

I have been fighting with my saveproblem. When ever I tried to save game crashed and every save was corrupted. No matter place, character, playing hours, quest, light, dark, indoors, outdoors, autosaves, quicksaves, consolesaves, every save caused CTD and came up corrupted. I updated my drivers, installed and reinstalled OBI, lowed graphics, reinstalled all mobs, deleted or moved unnecessary saves, etc. etc. You name it, I tried it.Now I worked with this problem for days and finally I found solve to my problem. I'm not saying everybody has the same issue, but telling you what solved my saveCTD. It started with when I reseted to default my mods, I could save without CTD. So without mods and playing vanilla OBI I managed to save where ever I wanted. After disabling 200 mods there was two mods left: RAEVWD 1.5 and 1.7 REALLY. Uninstalling or defaulting these two solved my problem. So if you have RAEVWD and having major savingCTD, try first defaulting your RAEVWD. It just might make your day!

 

I had these two mods and NEVER will I try them (or anything that does same effect) again.

Then it might be that I installed them wrongly. But after 200 modinstallations I just might now how to install. What ever, I don't want to ever now if they where installed wronly. I found my problem and the name of the problem is RAEVWD!
