Trouble With Reload/Grip Animation For Automatic Laser Rifle

I'm having difficulty getting the proper fire/grip or reload animation to work for an automatic laser rifle. Here are the settings I used initially:

  • Flags: Automatic
  • Fire Rate: 6.0000
  • Reload Anim: ReloadB ( default setting for laser rifles )
  • Handgrip: DEFAULT ( default setting for laser rifles )
  • Attack Anim: AttackLoop
  • Animation Type: TwoHandRifleEnergy ( default setting for laser rifles )

When firing the rifle with the above settings, the firing animation resembles that of a pistol ( 1-handed grip ), rather than the proper two-handed grip of a rifle. The reload animation works properly with these settings.

 

Next, I tried changing the Animation Type to "TwoHandAutomatic". This corrected the handgrip/firing animation issue, but it also changed the reload animation to that of the plasma rifle. This struck me as rather odd, considering I hadn't made any changes to the Reload Anim.

 

Changing the Handgrip setting dosen't seem to do anything, and changing the Attack Anim produces inconsistent firing animations.

The different animation types (1h pistol, 2h automatic, etc..) all have different animation sets.

The 2h automatic set does not have a reload animation that is identical to the regular laser rifle, so basically you can't fix this through simple weapon attributes.

 

In WeaponModKits this is solved by forcing an idle animation with the Laser Rifle reload animation to play when you reload the Laser Rifle with automatic fire mod. That's also the only solution I can think of.
