kanobe Posted June 6, 2014 Share Posted June 6, 2014 I think it would be cool to have a companion that had an ability to teleport behind an enemy attacking with a melee weapon and possible teleport back to the player (switching back to ranged) or maybe a flanking position (an area not surrounded by enemies but still in the action). You could compare this to Zero's ability in Borderlands because it is basically the same idea.I would think the companion would use ranged weapons first and than if conditions are met such as the player dropping below 50% health or the companion's heath dropping below 50% for examples than the companion would execute his special ability. In the example of the player dropping below 50%, maybe have the companion attack the enemy causing the player's death. Maybe have a variable where the companion continues to stay in melee (without transporting back depending on certain conditions.This special ability should use energy cells in the companion's inventory if possible. I'm not sure about the formula of how the energy cells should be spent. If the companion has no energy cells than they would just stick with their ranged weapon.I don't know anything about scripting or modding but here's an idea to implement. When the special ability is activated, the companion gets a high stealth field (completely invisible), higher movement speed, and a passive state (as to not attack anything on the way to target) and than once reaches the target the companion then loses the statuses added by the "transport". Maybe give the companion a invulnerability during the transportation as to give more to the illusion of transporting. Than of course, this can give good flavor for a backstory or quest (maybe have to complete quest for companion to unlock this special ability). As I mentioned before, the companion would normally use ranged weapons unless conditions are met to activate the special ability. If enemies are within melee range than the companion should switch to their melee weapon and back to ranged when there is no more valid melee targets within range.
