DSoS
Thanks for all the replies!I think I'll go get it tomorrow and start doing a bit of research on the vanilla downsides and available mods. :] I'm a student myself and 10€ is a lot for me. I eat 4 days with 10€. I've taken these kind of "risks" (Biggest disappointments for me - Master of Orion 3 and Bioshock for top two) before and a few times I've been gravely disappointed and trying REALLY hard to avoid getting disappointed ever again (Well until I get a steady job atleast). trust all of us, you WILL enjoy it. I've had it since it was first released, I paid $60usd for it. and have clocked in close to OR over 9000 game play hours, between the Play Station 3, Xbox 360, and the PC. :) I played FO3 for roughly 2 months, and got really bored of it, came back to OB and never looked at FO3 again...though its sitting right next to me o.o
WaLkAwaY
I still have not gone back to playing them yet but I can tell you having played both that I enjoyed them both immensely. Each is its own entity and era. Personally I like the Fantasy of Oblivion more than the FO3 game. However the FO3 world appealed to my FPS side. Just looking at Oblivion there is so much to do and see, one of the above posters was correct I think when they hinted at you not being able to finish it. Seriously the work people put into these mods is astronomical, details you cannot even imagine. Oblivion scenery is beautiful and you can add your own music I think with certain mods. Just to give you an example of the scope of realism and detail, when I played I collected all sorts of plants and supplies for spells, devices and things for creating spells even had mansions with spell rooms but I never created one spell as I was afraid of getting sucked into spending even more time in the game than I did. I was scared and the only way you increase or unlock (if you will) better abilities to create better spells is by making them. There was even a mod for leveling differently I believe. Anyway you will not be disappointed if Fantasy/Adventure (dragons and swords type) is your thing. I actually hope to get back into it by this weekend, I am still checking out mods. Matoyak
Buy it. Though I must say that I am disappointed in your dislike of Bioshock. Damn fine game, that.
madman132
Buy it. Though I must say that I am disappointed in your dislike of Bioshock. Damn fine game, that. This so called FPS/RPG hardly has any RPG Elements. So if someone buys Bioshock in Hopes of getting some RPG Elements he will be dissapointed. Bioshock is a Shooter, a really good one at that. It's one of the best Games that Year. But if you want RPG Elements, Bioshock is not your Game. That's like wanting to buy a Dog and then getting a Cat. While i'm at it, i'd like to point out some Flaws of Oblivion that can't be fixed by Mods. The Characters are stiff. They are made of wood. If your focus exclusively lies on lively and realistic Character interaction, Oblivion is not your Game. Fallout 3 did that a little better but is still lacking. If you focus on gritty realism, Fallout3 may have been on this side of "bearable". Oblivion however, is not. Cyrodiil is not one of the Areas that looks like you are watching them through a used coffeefilter. If you like those modern day brownish/grey-athons, you will despise oblivion to no end. I made a little modification with which you can alter the Weather by magic, so you can always play under a clear blue sky. A Friend of mine who actually likes brown graphics nearly puked ;D

From the get-go they said "FPS with some RPG-like elements" which is most certainly NOT a RPG/FPS.
