Star Wars Droid companion Mod

I would like to see a system for a single Star Wars droid as a companion. Here's how I imagine this would work:

 

First, one would find an old broken down droid out in the wilderness somewhere, which the player could either pick up and carry or repair right then if they have the parts. This droid would start out as a weak level 1 Knights of the Old Republic sort of battle droid, but as the player gains levels and gets the right parts they can modify it into other later battle droids, increasing it's health, armor, and weapon damage with each upgrade and eventually moving from Old Republic to Prequel trilogy and beyond, as far as the modder wants to go. For instance, the battle droid would first be an old rusty version of these droids:

Then after several upgrades it would become a B1 battle droid:

I don't know enough about Star Wars to suggest an entire progression, sorry.
