Repair attribute points distribution?

My machine is old but did run DAO without difficulty. I have installed many mods which add to the immersion and enjoyment. Some of those mods were "dazip" and most did not cause problems. I recently experienced extreme drag to stop in certain cut scenes after battle (Lothering Bridge, Lothering Pub and the Uldred fight). This problem was traced to certain dazip mods. Uninstalling those mods (extra areas, Inns and castles) did cure the drag to stop problems. Some of these mods did also affect the attribute points on leveling up and did cause the points to count double.

 

After removal of these mods, and re-installing their corrected versions, all seemed well. Until next character to level did not receive any attribute points at all or (for one character) just one. This problem affected both PCs and NPCs.

 

I have looked into the DAO ini file and I found nothing (as far as I could tell) that would have an effect on the points distribution. I have also checked for extraneous files (modular and"single player" sub) and did not find any (unless I am looking in the wrong spot).

 

I would hate to "retire" a character that I have devoted many hours to develop and getting to "know".

 

Must I uninstall/reinstall? Is there a folder that I can replace from the backup? Is there a simple line I can replace in config or ini?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated by me and any other players who might have this same problem.
