Question about OOO and MMM (compatability)

Hey all. I'm planning on reinstalling Oblivion on my computer. I know I'm definitely gonna install OOO. I'm thinking about maybe getting MMM as well though, I've never tried it before.

What I don't know is just how compatible they are with one another. I mean, if the whole point of OOO is that it creates a realistic and delicate balance among all of the monsters it sets for you, then how does it deal with the monsters from MMM? Does it level them in the same way it levels other monsters, or does it leave the MMM monsters to be leveled by the vanilla game (i.e. the world revolves around the player character)? And what about loot? I don't know if MMM adds any loot, but if it does, will that conflict with the fixed loot that OOO sets up? I'm really interested in MMM, but I'm more interested in having an experience consistent with the way OOO is designed.

As an aside, would you guys personally recommend MMM? I've read in some places that it adds too much stuff. What do you think?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Both mods are perfectly compatible with each other as long as you use the correct esp's and esm's from MMM. For example MMM adds Martigen's Monster Mod for OOO.esm and esp. All you need to do is read the load order section of MMM for the correct files so both mods balance out each other.

Make sure you have the latest versions of both so they work together properly. Don't have an older version of one and new for the other for example.

I've used both since they first appeared a few years ago, updating when necessary, and wouldn't play without them. They make the game harder, especially OOO, but it gets rid of the awful level scaling and the world is a dangerous place now, so you need to pick your fights and know when to run away and come back another day to get your revenge.

MMM also has many choices regarding amount of spawns, removing certain creatures like spiders if you don't like them, and many other great options.

You should use Wrye Bash to make a Bashed Patch to sort out leveled lists, but that's not hard to do. OOO should be added with a new game for best performance, but does have a save updater for existing games. Plus Wrye Bash will also do it.

MMM can be added any time or removed if you find you don't like the added content or both mods tax your system. The lesser spawn esp's and other options can assist with that though.

BOSS (Better Oblivion Software Software) and OBMM are also essentials when managing load orders.

Just be sure to read everything thoroughly and you should be fine.

Yesterday I even tackled the mammoth task of installing FCOM and it's like a completely new game. There's a lot of reading and configuring, but it's so worth it.

Thanks for your reply. I'm still left wondering about the way monsters level though. Will MMM monsters be leveled through the OOO system (realistic) or through the vanilla system (revolving around the player character)?

Realistic. No more of that player centric stuff.

OOO monsters and NPC's will still follow the OOO system and some of MMM's enemies do appear at certain levels, but not anything like the vanilla game.
