Johan_Kriegs
I think a mod that has a popup box warning you that you are trying to steal something and giving you the option of reconsidering. I've had a few times where I've picked up an item without meaning to and it would be nice to have the option of putting it back instead of automatically getting chased by the guards. Kind of like allowing you to pick up an item but put it back instead of putting it in your pocket. I haven't seen a mod that addresses this but if there is one, I'd appreciate the heads up. I'm trying to be a good guy but this is kind of making me look like a Thief lol.
clintonius
Or maybe just some kind of apology option. So that a guard or the owner of the item could come up to you and demand an apology and if you refuse the consequences would become much more severe. I don't know... I thought it was a good idea. I don't think its possible to hook the point where you get accused of a crime, but it might be possible to add functionality so you could give an item to the owner of the object, and have that lower your bounty by the amount the theft increased it. Or make it so that, once a day/week, guards will let you return a stolen item to them if your bounty is really low, rather than having to pay. KzinistZerg
Why not just an extra dialogue option thats "give it back" and no fine or bounty or whatever? I mean, if they even ask... don't have obliv yet...

Sure, but you have to ensure the player actually gives back the correct item somehow ;)
