CaptainGARS
So I got a new computer this Christmas because I didn’t want to upgrade everything on the one I had. Moved all my game folders over. Went to play fallout last week and the launchers comes up and it says install. so I look for my disc, thinking ill need to spend an hour doing it over again.... it gone :wallbash: Anyway, I had burned all the info on the disc to the hard drive and tested it on the first computer ages ago. Had to use it twice, so I know it works. Go to move the six Gig file on my external. Doesn’t work. Says insufficient disk space for data2.cab. I realize that’s not going to work (unless there's a thread I haven't found in a weeks time of looking). So apparently, there’s more then just the stuff in the Fallout 3 folder in the computer the game needs to run. This must be new because my oblivion works just fine. Any ideas on how to move the install files or the file outside the folder
mechine
Well, pfft, why bother keeping up with disc's. Yeah, you know, retail versions are overrated. Oh wait, then there's the pickle you are now in. Scratch that, let's hold onto our retail discs. I'll go ahead an tell you, I'm the biggest duffus in the world. That being said, I still know enough to not lose my disc's or game Keys. I've lost a few though, I can't say I would ever have to worry about losing fallout 3 with having to install it so many times an all. *snip* But this is all illegal pirate stuff, so besides the risks of viral damage or copyright prison terms aside. *snip* From Oblivion to Fallout the system is now drawing 2 to 4 times as much, so to speak fallout 3 is 2 to 4 times as complex. Sounds like another reason to turn the settings down. I'd say find the disc, or ask bethesda for a replacement, or go find a bunch of soda cans to sell, then go by the game of the year edition. If you didn't have the DLC's it would be totally worth it, plus the GOTY edtion is already patched to 1.7 Which you could also borrow a disc from a friend. Bethesda Softworks tech support wouldn't be a bad idea either. ******Edited post. If you're going to even mention piracy as a really bad alternative, please don't go into detail. Just say "It's bad, m'kay" and leave it at that. Thread locked. Game can only be installed from Disc, if you don't have the disc, you're outta luck. - Vagrant0****** Edited February 4, 2010 by Vagrant0
