Frederov
A little background... I installed the GECK when it first came out and played with it a little, then decided to ignore it while exploring other people's mods to see what I liked and didn't etc. Anyway after playing F3 for over a year I decided to get involved in mod making. I downloaded the Geck wiki to hand hold while learning to use the GECK and did ok until I got up to putting objects into cells (clutter). Suddenly I realised the Wiki had a different window in the GECK than me. The wiki's GECK looked much easier to use than my version so I did some reading and discovered a new version of the GECK was out. Ok, downloaded the patch to 1.5. Double clicked on the patch and it started installing and then it stopped and said my original file didn't exist. Strange. Well my F3 directory is on my F drive so I thought maybe the patch is looking for it on the C drive. So I made sure the GECK and the patch were within the same directory as F3 and tried again. Same result. Next I figured maybe when I installed the GECK many eons ago I was silly and installed it somewhere else and only had the actual .exe for it in the F3 directory... So I uninstalled the GECK and downloaded it again to make sure I had a fresh copy installed exactly where it should be. Only this time when I try to install the GECK all I seem to have downloaded is the game .exe because instead of installing the GECK, F3 starts up :wallbash: I've tried downloading from Bethesda, and the Nexus, and even my old file (OMG!) and I get exactly the same thing. This is driving me mad!!! All I can figure is -something- else is interfering with the GECK .exe .... but I can't fathom what? F3SE? FOMM? I can't be the only poor sod to have had this problem  ????
Quetzlsacatanango
Is your install stopping on readme.txt by any chance? I seem to remember having that problem. I eventually found the file on the GECK wiki site as I recall, although I don't seem to see it there now. I'll keep looking.

Frederov
http://geck.bethsoft.com/images/f/f2/GECKReadme.txt No, I tried putting the txt file in the directory but the 'install' still starts up F3 instead of installing. Is that what you mean? The Readme didn't have anything useful in it... :(
Quetzlsacatanango
For me the GECK 1.5 install was dying because the geck readme was not in my fallout directory (where you should be installing geck). I may have misunderstood what your issue was. I'm still not sure about that :)
Frederov
Yeah, that might have been my problem initially, but since I can't install the GECK at all now theres no way to test it... Its beginning to look like I will need to uninstall everything and reinstall F3, then GECK, then 1.5geck patch, then FOMM etc. I'll test it out on another PC first though... Thanks for the suggestion - it may turn out to be helpful when I try again
Quetzlsacatanango
What FO3 patch are you running? I believe you have to have 1.5+ in order to run GECK 1.5.
Frederov
1.7 so that can't be the problem ...
