DietrichFaust
So, I just installed Fallout 3, and figured since I have modded in other games it would be easy. But it is entirely different and I am very confused. I downloaded a few mods just for player models, and the Marts mutant mod. I also downloaded the Archive Invalidator utility, and FOMM, as most mods I downloaded said those were required. I tried using FOMM by just unzipping my files, then using the Package Manager, and then selecting the "create from folder" option. All it did was crash Fallout. So then I tried just copying the textures straight into their respective folders. Only to find the folders were named as .bsa files, so I exported all the stuff so I could place my edited textures into the folders, but there was no change. My assumption is that the game was still loading from the compressed data folders, and not the ones I extracted. So I was hoping for this: I am on a fresh install of Fallout 3. That isn't ruined from my failure. I also have a small, and I am assuming simple, mod to install. It is the " DIMONIZED TYPE3 female body WIP" Player texture mod that I got through looking at the top 100 mods. Can somebody walk me through what I need to do? There's obviously something I am missing through just following the instructions contained within the mod files. Also, can somebody explain to me when, and/or how, I am supposed to use the Invalidation tool? I am sure if I can just be shown through the modification process once, I will be able to pick it up from there with everything else. I have done a lot of mods for other games, and I am sure if I can get this down, I may also be able to contribute to the community as well with my artistic talent. In Fomm use toggle invalidation button ... Then it will read from data/textures folder To install TYPE 3... Just place textures folder and one of meshes folders from Type3 into fallout3/data You must have this paths - data/textures/characters/female/inside must be 9 dds filesand data/meshes/meshes/characters/_male/inside must be 1 nif file
DietrichFaust
Thanks for the quick reply. I will try that. EDIT:Not working. Fallout is crashing again. \_(o_O)_/ Here's what I did. Extract Rar 's > fallout 3/data Open FOMM >toggle invalidation>Launch Fallout *crash* Secondary EDIT: After *ban* around with it long enough, I just kind of stumbled into making my texture mod(s) work. I am going to try a few more, the modern weapons one, and Morts mutant one and see if I can get those up and running. If all goes smoothly I'll hop in 3DSM and try to work on my own custom edits. Crimson Knight
any chance you are using the 1.5 Patch if so it breaks the game make sure you DO NOT INSTALL the 1.5 patch :) also you may create your own invalidation text file or look for the one FOMM Creates and Double check to see if it is there if not you can do it manually :) good luck lad

DietrichFaust
Installing the official 1.7 patch won't interfere with the games functionality?
