I've tried a lot of mods, and basically what I'm trying to find is a mod that, whilst making the game more challenging, also makes it more rewarding, and maybe includes a few larger overhauls that make the game feel a little different. This could be one mod or a selection of smaller mods.

Like I said, I've tried lots. SkyRe is the one I've used the most, and whilst I like what it does, I've played it so much I'm kinda used to it now, and it doesn't feel that different to vanilla. I've watched people stream with Requiem and hate it, it makes the difficulty scaling ridiculous. I'm currently playing with SPERG, Duel Combat Realism, ASIS and a few other little tweaks I've forgotten, with ASIS encounter zones. Whilst I like what SPERG does to the perks, it doesn't seem like there's enough, in my opinion.

I've looked at things like SkyDie but don't really see what it does apart from make it harder, not more rewarding. I've tried Skyrim Unleashed and noticed little difference. Argh.

Any ideas?

Personally I'm not much into total overhauls, since they don't leave much space for other unique mods. You can get so much more out of skyrim when you don't focus solely on gameplay balance mods like skyre. It would help if you would give a bit more detail on your gameplay and character set up.

List of my favorite mods for adventure and exploring:

Increased Bounty Rewards

Sunken Treasures

Skyrims Unique Treasures

(What can I say? I love hording stuff >_<)

Convenient Horses - (cough... saddle bag... besides that mounted combat)

SIC - Skyrim Immersive Creatures, merged with >

The Way of the Dovahkiin - Ultimate Deadly Encounters aka Sands of Time ~ Video >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7A3Faq2fFs8

+Immersive Armors v7

OBIS ~ Video >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu3Hbn2-LCE

More Bandit Camps

Skyrim BiggerTrees ~ Video >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwYGCJ7n2YI

Supreme and Volumetric Fogs ~ Video >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51thPaQaroE

(that moment when you get lost in woods full of monsters and wild beasts...)

Realistic Needs & Diseases - cooking and hording food makes sense now! Fighting while being drunk doesn't end well. I tripped on a rock while trying to swing my axe and ended in nearby stream >_>

Hunting in Skyrim - A Hunting Guild ~ Video >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-tupM2Cil8# perks preview @3:20

Duel Combat Realism + Ultimate Combat + Locational Damage > Makes humans extremely dangerous. Time your block and your enemy will take a knee.

Dragon Combat Overhaul ~ Video >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhAGyfigqio

Equipping Overhaul ~ Video >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKBt1x_P1SA (new version solved issues pointed in this review)

Dual Hand Combo Hotkeys

Dual Wield Parrying + Dual Wield Blocking Animations

NPC Knockout Overhaul

For werewolf playthrough:

Enhanced Skyrim Factions - The Companions Guild

Enhanced Skyrim Followers - Aela the Huntress

Moonlight Tales

Heart of the Beast

Werewolf Mastery

Bloodmoon Rising

(Feels like Castlevania: Lord of Shadows, the difference is now you are the monster. Use your claws to do slash sprint attacks!)

The reward? Staying alive till the end of the day is an achievement in itself. Besides that I love collecting shields and armors that belonged to bandit raid groups >:3

I would get separate modules for things like alchemy, enchanting or magic to compliment your mods selection. Also I heard good things about Achieve That mod. It rewards you with small boosts for completing quests, etc.

Thanks for such a detailed reply!! What you said especially what I quoted got me thinking, I really love the Bigger Trees mod and the sort of fantasy forest vibe it gives off, are there any mods you'd suggest to make the game more high fantasy? For example ENBs and lighting mods that make the mod appear more colourful and cinematic as well as more fantastical, as well as armors such as the TERA armors and these: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/29690/?

I also have animation replacers such as the Mystic Knight, and the Fantasy Soundtrack Project. I was just wondering if there were any mods that would complement such a setup? Anything at all really, race mods, armor mods, gameplay mods, house/place/quest mods etc.

Performance friendly ENB:

Extreme presets:

Personally I use medieval fantasy preset:

I always pick ENBs compatible with ELFX. Just love the candle smoke and dusty interiors. Great for roleplaying drinking in taverns :D Or actually getting drunk with RND and slamming yourself on the door when you try to leave! If you like more extreme visual, get Shadows.

As for the armors, there were few but I can't remember the names atm and my nexus folder has like 200 files :pinch:

I love the Mystic Knight Replacer! Try it with No More Glowing Edges. It''s a small fix, but makes the difference.

Try EEO, if you play any of the vanilla elves. Besides that there is bunch of custom race mods, BUT I don't like the compatibility issues they create. Like custom perks/skills or mods like ECE not working with them.

If you wanted something for fun get BFF companions.

Mod I have recommended recently:

hey, sorry to bump this old thread, but what mods did you use for the faces of the children? I've modded the adults to look beautiful up to my horrible modding skill and all i got left is to make the children look like they belong.

Just get TK Children.
