superflossman
Okay, so for me, Oblivion suddenly got incredibly laggy, and does the whole "Oblvion has stopped working" thing whenever I fast-travel, enter new areas, and even just when I draw my weapon. For about a month now, I can't be in the game for even 30 seconds without it crashing. I installed the latest drivers for my graphic card, and experimented with changing the graphics settings for Oblivion, but nothing seems to be working for me. Could somebody give me some advice on what to do?

MonsterHunterMaster
maybe its because of the mods.it can be their load order, or some mods arent compatible with others...but firstly, try to uncheck all mods in the launcher and start oblivion without any mods, when it works normally, it has something to do with some mods! Thanks. I'll try it within a few minutes.*EDIT*I tried it. Most places I saved were in mods, so I loaded an older save. When I attempted to click "New save" Oblvion crashed on me again.. Maigrets
You'd be better off trying a new game with no mods active to test, rather than unchecking mods that may have master files in an existing game. This is most likely why your game won't start or crashes when you deactivate your mods. Also, everything you do in the game is stored in saves, including data added by mods so just unchecking them doesn't always work, especially if changes to the base game are made. Mods like armour and weapons or others that don't make radical changes usually won't be a problem, except you'll lose the items if you save without the mod checked. Post a load order of your mods. If you use OBMM go to the right of the main window and select Import/Export and then View Load Order. Save the resulting file to a text editor like WordPad and copy and paste it here. You may also need to adjust your load order if you're having crashing issues. This is probably the biggest issue when using mods, besides adding a heap of mods without testing each one first to see if it works as intended. Make sure you have all Auto saves disabled in the game play Options. These are known to corrupt saves, including your full saves over time. this will also cause crashes and saves to not load eventually. There are many reasons for crashes including whether your system is capable of running the mods you're using.

But I have added my mods one at a time and they all seemed to work fine. These frequent crashes have started happening about one month ago. These were the ones I used before I unchecked them all. There are some others that I didn't use much that I kept unchecked. Balakirev
That's not the load order. That's alphabetical order. The problem may be due to the order your mods are loaded in, so it would help to know that. I would personally suggest installing Wrye Bash as an aid to configuring your mods for optimal placement, but it takes some effort to set up and understand. A much easier tool to install and run (though it has less application is Better Oblivion Sorting Software. Ideally, look at both, or at least, try out the latter. You'll be very happy you did.
