Creating a custom NPC

Okay, so, I'm working on this mod, and in order for it to be realistic, I need to create an NPC who is obscenely overweight. For the reference's sake, we'll say I'm creating Santa Claus. How do I go about doing that?

My origninal though was to make an armor mesh that looked like a fat person, equip an NPC, and set it as However, this wouldn't affect the NPC's face, hands, feet, so on. Also, if I could script the NPC to walk with a wobble, that would be ideal. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any help is appreciated, and I will give full credit to anyone who does.

Thanks!

Simply and honestly put? Impossible. A lot of people have asked the same before and it would be an huge undertaking that would take months and months to accomplish and still fail..simply as the game isn't build for it. Some of the best have tried and stopped as it didn't work out. Creating an armor-mesh you're referring to is the closest you could get....indeed you would need to do all slots to let it show up correctly. Maybe creating something from the arena-armor (as in full-armor) might get you closer.

Eh. Thanks anyway. You know, when you think about it, it's kind of dumb that every oblivion npc in the game has the same body. Kind of kills some realism there...

Anyways, thanks again. Back to my original plan, I guess.

why impossible? well maybe not peter griffin style obesity (sry i'm just watching FG) but i guess a beer belly model could be modeled and maybe a more pronuced underchin. (gosh i hope i don't offend anyone)

Am I missing something - wouldn't this be doable with a custom race with tweaked meshes?

Depending on how much you modified the meshes though, you might need to rerig some of it?

That's what i had in mind, so i guess it is more than possible!

The problem actually lies with the skeleton. any sort of overweight character would be too narrow at the shoulders, and would have horrible clipping in the armpit area. You can't widen the waist because the weapon would clip through the body. You can't thicken the legs as they would clip with eachother when walking/sitting and would clip with furniture when sitting/laying. The actual mesh is the least of your problems.

Okay...suppose I just want him to stand there. Like a merchant. No sitting, eating, drinking, laying, weapons, none of that. Is there a way to do that, and then just fix the arm pit thing somehow? Also, Could someone please explain how to make a new race, or send me a link? All I have found in the original game are .tk, or .tf (can't remember which now), rather than .nif's. Idk, maybe I'm just completely misguided as to how to actually change appearance. Obviously, I am a "newbie."

Maybe some day I can level up....

P.S. Guy up there (I've forgotten the name), don't you EVER worry about offending people. I suspect that's most of the reason I can't find a mod that makes me laugh. And I intend to change that.

  • 3 weeks later...
You might be able to do something with the method mentioned here:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

It took me about 2 hours, but I think I've finally got an acceptable result, with only minimal clipping. :D

(And with some more work, I think I can fix it.)

Props to you, times a zillion.
