Cadarn
Hi all. Being daunted by the volume of mods already in the database, I thought I'd ask for some suggestions! I already use the levelslow, no poi(on compass), darker nights, and slyster's Improved Arrow Damage mods along with a couple (who's exact name escapes me) that serve to get rid of levelled loot and the bulk of levelling monsters. I'm just after a game world which I have to adapt to, rather than one that adapts to me! One where I can actually hurt people with bows and one where I have to earn real experience (in terms of game time) to increase in level and power. So. What mods do you guys use.....and what chance of some sort of combo package featuring the best of them?
Stampede
I use the rare items mod. Makes it pretty difficult to find daedric and ebony and stops bandits and common enemies from having uber weapons and armour.
loveme4whoiam
Lol Stampede, I'm still at the level at which rooms which have a Very Hard lock on them only contain an apple ;D I'm going to try and compile a list of decent realism mods over Easter - starting with removing the damned levelled stuff - a merchant not having anything better than leather just because you are a junior adventurer is not only annoying, but unrealistic. Cheers for the tips with those that you have already listed Cadarn :D
SB2ean
So. What mods do you guys use.....and what chance of some sort of combo package featuring the best of them? This is the leveling mod i am currently using ... - Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.espI also downloaded - Francesco's level up mod.esp & Sagerb1.34 but Oscuros mod seems to be working so good so far I havnt bothered to test the others ,at the start it came as quite a shock when i got hammered by 2 rats but as my skills improved (my actual skills not my skills in the art of pressing buttons :) .)I was able to dispatch rats more easily ... which is what I wantedalso I have - Hunters Mod by Axebane which gives better rewards from huntingI would also recommend the LandscapeLOD replacements by shaja if your PC is decent , theymakethe distant land look much better , ,, Obsuros mod is biggest improvement though I'm just after a game world which I have to adapt to, rather than one that adapts to me!Nicly put .. I cant believe Beth' would do such a thing they are one of the great rpg developersand they very nearly killed the game rpg wise (after Deus Ex and thief3 I wish developers would learn and stop this dual development , I mean why do both versions have to be the same
Aeothan
I can't seem to find the modifcation you mentioned for the arrow damage, "slyster's Improved Arrow Damage" :( Where did you get it? You sound like a person interested in mods that aren't grossly overpowered, so I'd like to test out that arrow mod (arrows are hideously weak... 20+ to kill a humanoid is goofy  ). Thanks! ;D
Cadarn
I can't seem to find the modifcation you mentioned for the arrow damage, "slyster's Improved Arrow Damage" :( Where did you get it? You sound like a person interested in mods that aren't grossly overpowered, so I'd like to test out that arrow mod (arrows are hideously weak... 20+ to kill a humanoid is goofy  ). Thanks! ;D Can you tell that my home machine is in the repair shop and I'm doing this from memory? Sorry mate - that arrow mod is actually called "Improved Bow Damage" and it's author is Slyster. As of 10.15 British Summer Time, 11 April 2006 it was on page 11 of the GAmeplay Changes section in downloads. Good call on that Hunter's Mod. I forgot to mention it first time, but if you are playing with a level slowing mod, finding more animal pelts (etc) on your kills is both realistic and rewarding. When my PC gets fixed I'll try Obscuros Mod - thanks for the tip :)
Cadarn
So, the PC is working again and I'm looking at Obsuros' Overhaul Mod. Seems like it breaks the LevelSlow mod :-( I don't want to gain skills every 2 minutes, so I'm open to suggestions on how to slow down skill point gains! Stampede
I am wary of Obsuro's Overhaul mod as it makes so many changes in one plugin file. Some people have had really buggy experiences with it, though I must stress that it's only been some. Others are very happy with it, however I prefer using smaller, seperate .esp files that specialise in one feature at a time. .Esp's that attempt multiple changes in the games mechanics just give me a bad feeling...however that is just my opinion after read its thread on the official forums. Banana12
* Behaviour realism: Attack and Hide v2.0 medium (more realistic stealth attacks); No Psychic Guards (guards can only detect crime within shouting distance); Natural_Wildlife.esp (exterior wildlife has more realistic behavior, does not attack on sight). * Surroundings and creatures realism: Time_x2.esp (more realistic day and night cycle); Landscape LOD Texture Replacer -and- Landscape LOD NormalMap fix; Better Grass Texture (fixes tiling effect on some distant grass); Beautiful Stars (twinkly stars and constellations); Seasonal Weather/More Sky Climates. Lightning Strikes (storms are more realistic) Better Horse Eyes Larger Ogres and Trolls Call Steed 3.0 (call your straying horse to you) * Interface changes that add to visual realism by reducing in-play screen-clutter: No More Annoying Messages 1.2; Crosshairs Size Reduction 1.1; Simple Compass (Less-chunky compass on the UI).
