Scorcher21
Okay I'll try to make a long story short. Bought the game on D2D had no clue what to expect. turns out I love this game ..... a lot. Beat the game and all quests (after several failed attempts and 2 HDD's (even longer story)) and then started getting into mods and such. That's where I stand now. Ive beaten all the cyrodil quests, the main quest, KoTN, glenvar castle, Ive got frostcrag, and the dunbarrow pirates and the vial layer. oh yeah and ancient towers. *(not that it matters but I completed everything before i even got glenvar, and ancient, like the stuff but glad i completed the game with out it). Ive also got natural enviroment, maps, UI, blah blah, optimization to make it actually work lol, blah. Im level 38 now with an azzton of stuff spread out across cyrodil. Now my problem, In my recent found joy of mods Ive realized some of the stuff I want requires OBSE, and D2D apparently is encrypted in a way for this not to work. A buddy of mine has the GoTY edition and has beaten it and bored with it and willing to let it go cheap. Can I just install that and have my save still there and current progress remain the same is basically what my question boils down to.
bben46
Yes. Before installing the GOTY, make a backup of your current data folder to preserve your existing mods. then make a backup of your save game folder, and include the Oblivion.ini that is located in the same folder that holds the save game folder. Then, UNINSTALL the D2D version - you may have to use the GOTY disk to do this properly. If you are unsure about how to completely uninstall, see this: http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=240 After installing the GOTY, Before making any changes or adding any mods, start the game and test it to be sure everything works. Then install OBSE. Test again. If you use OBMM, (recommended) you will have to reinstall that too. Now replace the game data folder with your saved data folder, the game save folder with your saved folder. If needed, replace the game Oblivion.ini with the saved version. At this point you will have your original game with all of its saves, mods and settings plus OBSE. Now you can enjoy the many great mods that require OBSE
