Question about TES Construction Set

Ok, I'm new to the TES set I just downloaded it last night. I've figured out a little bit about it but theres something that confuses me. How can I make a mod I make work with other mods? For instance if I load Oblivion with the Sky Castle mod and the mod I made, when I try to spawn the item I created with the TES set it says that the form ID doesn't exist. But if I just load the master oblivion file and the mod I made it will spawn my item. So how would I make my mods work with other mods?

PS I haven't got a clue about scripting yet so tell me if I need to know about that stuff to make it work.

THANKS

Mods don't really work with other mods. There are exceptions to this, but they are sort of advanced. In general, people avoid constructing things that way.

For instance, I cannot have Witchcrafty Joe in Mod A send me on a quest to go get a custom crystal that exists in Mod B. (He could however send me after an ordinary vanilla Oblivion Welynd Stone located in Mod B because that is part of the vanilla game and it would be recognized by both mods A and B. (But I could just ignore his instructions to go to mod B and go to any nearby Ayleid ruin to get a Welkynd stone.)

To work together, everything must reside in the same mod. So what you would need to do would be to modify your personal copy of Sky Castle, or else merge your mod with the Sky Castle mod so there will only be one mod. An exception to this would be mods that modify vanilla places. I can run mod A which adds more flowers to the IC Arboretum, mod B which adds lots of pickpockets to the IC Arboretum, and mod C which adds lots of daedra to the IC Arboretum. All three sets of things would show up in my game. But no mod can refer to the new cells in Sky Castle except for Sky Castle itself.

Load order is important too. If mod E moves a bush to the right, and mod F moves a bush to the left, the last mod in the load order wins. So if mod F is after mod E, the bush will be to the left.

There are 2 versions of the CS on the Bethesda site. They left the older one up because there is a bug that you can only use the older one for lip syncing voice files - for some reason they haven't patched the newer version to allow this. Use the newest version (1.2.404) for anything that does not require lip sync. Then if you want to add lip sync you can load up the older one (v1.0) and add it later. However, you can only use one version at a time.

If you got the CS anywhere else, get rid of it and go to the official source - it's free there, you don't have to register or anything. And you know its clean and up to date.

If you got it from a torrent, who knows what you have. Not all torrent copies are true copies, they may be missing parts (some uploaders remove things they think are not needed - like documentation) have someone elses mistakes already in them, or some malware from the other computer that the uploader didn't even know he had.
