Games without controllers..

Is the future of gaming playing games without a controller?

 

Microsoft is going to release "Project Natal", where they removed the controller..

The new "controller" is the human itself.

Also, the new Nintendo DS should, as Shitoru Iwata mentioned, have HD graphics and a motion sensor, but Nintendo did not confirm it yet.

What do you think of the idea to remove the controller to play games?

 

What is your opinion, should everyone remove the controller or should they keep it to play games?

It looks cool, but I think this is the sort of thing they

would have to offer in addition to a controller.

 

There's a reason the Wii has all those cheap plastic peripherals,

just pretending you're holding something does not make good

gameplay. I can beat almost anyone at MarioKart if and only if

I have the plastic wheel, otherwise I'm terrible.

 

I really doubt that racing game they showed would

work well without a lot of practice.

 

The martial arts game, on the other hand, would probably be

perfectly suited to such a system.

 

It's a very cool concept, but I have a feeling it'd be a lot harder

to get used to than they seem to think. And if it does get popular,

it may suffer some of the same fate as the Wii (I'm saying this as an owner, btw)

and get a market flooded with cheap, poorly made games that get bought purely

because of the novelty of the system.

 

I would hope they have some sort of unbelievable launch title

to couple with such a system to set a very high bar for the quality

of games that would be made for it.

 

I'd buy it, but I'm not ready to hang up my controllers yet.

New technology, new problems. Why is it suddenly "the thing" to do away with wires and controllers? they worked for the past 40 years just fine.

well, for my opinion, i have to say, i cannot imagine gaming without a controller or a keyboard and mouse.

I think it wouldnt be the same feeling...i dont want to play without controllers/mouse & keyboard..

well, maybe it turns out good in some shooters, maybe you feel a bit like a gamer from the movie gamer.. :rolleyes:

but i cant imagine playing racing games without a controller or a wheel, just holding hands in the air...this has to suck...hope sony keeps the controller..

Sony have kept the design mostly unaltered for over 10 years now, hope they dont change it now to jump on the hands-free bandwagon.

 

From what I saw from ads I wasn't impressed by Gamer the movie. Not impressed by Natal either.

well, even though i very like the movie gamer, i dont like the gaming system they had in the movie..not cuz you steer a real human, its the without-a-controller-gaming.

a controller has to be in games like mods in oblivion...
