Hello, All--Let's bring Elric and Stormbringer to life!

The Elric of Melnibone series is probably the best fantasy reading ever. And so often referenced/plagerized/homaged in these games. My dream is to have a LOTR type movie made--it's ripe. I see Elric as having this dark, vampire crossover appeal. Anyway, I get ahead of myself.

 

I'm interested in recreating characters and items (Stormbringer, Mournblade, of course) in DA:O. I finished the game, and I'm teaching myself the toolset.

 

So far I have tweaked out a human character, trying to get the white hair, long tapering skull, high cheekbones, thin lips, long aquiline nose, slanted almond shaped eyes(no red on the eye color slider though). Still doesn't look right though. I wish I could tweak a skinny Sten Q'nari. Elric, the ultimate arcane warrior.

 

This is a shout out to all you like-minded people.

Stormbringer would be so awesome to recreate faithfully.

 

From what I remember:

 

Massive, black, two handed, double-edged, though it moved like a rapier. So one handed, in the game. I sort of remember reading that it was like 6' total in the books, but that seems ridiculous.

 

It sang, shreiked and growled in battle, some fun sound files to make.

 

Emitted a dark glow, like a poisoned or flamed blade, but black.

 

Alien craftsmanship, jewelled hilt and pommel very strange looking, deep runes on blade, glowing. Chaos symbol on hilt, I think.

 

Weak enemies would often run in fear just seeing it, they would have to pass mental resistance or run in fear or paralyze.

 

Takes and gives wielder health AND mana from each successful strike.

 

There would somehow be a chance of it attacking allies, moving unpredictably.

 

In large battles, it becomes "sated" after too many kills and loses all of it's powers altogether.

 

Also, I'm not sure, but I think I remember certain "undead" type soul-less creatures that the blade is useless against because it craves/ feeds on souls. Stormbringer and Mournblade were basically powerful demons trapped in, or in the form of swords.

 

 

It would pretty much be a God item, that would need really hard modules/creatures to be fun.

A weapon that is only useful against creatures with souls? You do realize darkspawn are soulless? It explains why thats useful to the archdemon at the end of the game.

WOW! Total flashback...

 

I read some of M.Moorcocks books when I was 10-12 years old. Haven't thought about it till I read your post. I once had a calendar that depicted some of the art, it was awesome. Thanks for the flashback :thanks:
