Adipose
Just started playing Requiem. Found it to be hard, intriguing, and interesting. Certainly not boring. Finally decided to back off and let Raloff do all the work with me in a support roll. Kinda reminds me of play in TES in the early days. Anyway, don't want to do any spoilers, but reading the manual thoroughly is good idea. Also read any and all in-game manuals that you come across. Better ramp up your patience to the max as well. It's very early days for me but on first acquaintance this seems to be a whole new ball game. Been a very long time, in game play terms, since I've been two shotted. madcow12
Which difficulty do you play on? As much as I enjoyed the work of Requiem (which is quite the masterpiece of an overhaul) i found that with the right combination of mods, i don't even need to bump the difficulty beyond adept to make the game hard for me. of course it does mean more mods on the list, but IIRC requiem also requires a number of patches which means both turn out pretty much the same
Adipose
I usually play on Adept. I've looked at, and installed a good many of the mods/patches that are intended for the game. I still get killed pretty easy in the beginning. Doesn't take many shots either. Also, noticed that "essential" companions are now being killed. Is that a characteristic of Requiem? No essential followers? Lol! I'm a pretty old guy, probably just not fast enough on the keyboard to avoid being nailed. Also, some of the overhaul/patch mods intended for Requiem don't run well on my comp, so I've deactivated them.
madcow12
I'm not sure about the essential companions part. They might not be essential but in fact simply protected, which means only you can kill them by friendly fire. Without the patches some of the other mods might play out funny or not work at all so perhaps you can check that too, because especially with overhauls, sometimes just having the two independent mods activated without patches is not enough. But at the end of the day the most important thing is you are having fun and that's all that really counts so enjoy
notmyhome
Well, I also noticed plenty of NPCs can now go down that were essential/protected before.
Adipose
Yep, unnoticed by me, I accidentally nailed two of the three that I've lost. I didn't know what the "...change the world..." comment meant. Lol! Not used to being careful as it hasn't been critical before. In the past if I made a mistake they just fussed and we went on about our business. One simply disappeared. Got no idea why. Probably got scragged by an unforeseen mob of hostile npcs as I didn't receive any kind of notice. Just wasn't in my "Book of Homies" anymore.
