This has come up many times before... FOMM vs NMM when it comes to creating mods

So I use NMM as of late, and I have used FOMM before too, but should I transition to FOMM due to its handy tools for modding when I've been doing that lately? Would it be too much of a pain in the butt to switch over to?

 

What are your preferences?

I'm still using FOMM for everything. I'm just totally used to it and do instantly know 'which tool is where'. However, there is a small exception - I am using NMM to manage Skyrim mods. I wanted to get used to the program so I started managing Skyrim with it. But FOMM 14.10.8 is my first choice for everything else.

 

As for your question: when you're used to it, stick to NMM and start the tools individually. But you can also start using FOMM (updated version) because there are many tools included that you're gonna use anyway. With Elminster's "Edit" programs and the GECK/C-Kit I didn't need anything else (I don't do meshes/textures). It's a matter of personal preference - I see that you've already created some mods so you're gonna know what you need.

I prefer to use neither, but I use both. FOMM for Fallouts, and NMM for Skyrim as I am lazy with Skyrim and dont care much about keeping tabs on their mods myself. Mostly I just use them for UI editing mods.

 

Try to branch out they all have their uses that the other does not have, I also use Wrye for pretty much all my texture mods and custom content I make myself.
