DJKonfined
Whenever I switched from Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Home Premium, I've never been able to load .esp files with OBMM. The "Swiss army knife" icon doesn't even appear next to the files anymore and causes the mods to not even load into the game when I copy them to the data folder. If anyone knows what program I can download to fix this or what program I need to download for the army knife to appear next to the files again, please tell me. I downloaded a ton of mods and feels like I wasted alot of time after finding out only a limited few mods loaded into the game. Once again the swiss army knife doesn't even appear next to the .esp files anymore, it's just a blank page next to them. *ALSO* I don't know if it's because I'm using the steam version of Oblivion or not. I don't know if it makes a difference if I use the CD opposed to the Steam version. Even when I try to load the .esp into OBMM it says it can't find the extracted files or something along those lines. I don't get what Windows 7 has to do with any of this, but it might. Just would really like to get some mods into the game =[.
bben46
I, and many others here are using Win7 with no problems. I suspect you have installed Oblivion into the default location and are a victim of Microsoft's attempt to make computing safer by not allowing you to do what you want to, and then not bothering to tell you it was protecting you from yourself - otherwise known as UAC. It works a little different in Win7, but the fix is the same. For Vista and Win7 related problems such as UAC, Check here: http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=262. If I remember, the Swiss Army Knife icon comes from the Construction set. And No, you do not need the CS to use mods, not in XP, not in Vista, and not in Win7. Mods work just fine whether you have the CS or not. As to OBMM not being able to find your downloaded files, I think UAC actually hides them unless you have set EACH one to run with admin privileges. Just being the administrator doesn't allow you to run everything as an administrator! :wallbash:
