Game crash

I think the key symptom is the "i get a small black box which keeps flashing up onto the game screen which".

 

There is text in it? It is mod related? Do you have any mod that needs OBSE?

 

Try leaving only the unnoficial patch activated, and try again.

 

Or only Oblvion.esm and DLCShiveringIsland.esp and test.

 

Disable all the "extra" processes before running Oblvion.

 

Don't worry your card CAN deal with Oblivion.

To find out if it is caused by a mod or not, Play without mods for a while. And no, I do not mean just disabling in the data list. That does not completely remove mods. This will take you back to a bare game, with NO mods in the data folder at all. The mods will be saved in another folder. This does not affect your ini or saved games.

As far as reinstalling, the normal reinstall leaves stuff behind, the save games, ini, mods and several entries in the Windows Registry. To get rid of all of it and do a TRUE reinstall.

There is no text in the black box which comes up and im not aware that it is mod related. And i will try reverting to the vanilla state to see if that will cure it.
