Pick-n-Pluck, a n00b modder's question.

Heya folks, I've got a question on how to do something pretty basic. I wholeheartedly enjoy New Vegas, and I've come across quite a few mods that I only like pieces of; quests that give one or two pieces of cool gear for example. The mods were okay, but not worth clogging up my load order with to keep one item.

So my idea was to make an esm or esp (not sure which is more appropriate) called Pick n Pluck for myself, wherein I save the things that I enjoy all in one place. I know it's possible, but I'll be hornswaggled if I can figure out how. Tried googling the problem, but I apparently don't know the right keywords to find what I need to know. Soooo... I'm gonna crowdsource this one.

How do I take items (locations probably being more of a pain than they're worth) from different mods and copy them into a seperate mod for myself? I know enough GECK-eese to mod other people's work (the basics of refids, formlists, etc.), but this is a teensy bit out of my working knowledge.

Hey :)

Don't worry, it's really easy. All you need to do is load up the plugins you want to edit and set none of them as the active file. You can then go and find everything that you want to put into your own, new plugin. You should then turn them into new things, so change the id of them to something you'll remember (I'd recommend changing the id of everything you want to keep beginning with the same part, so they all appear together). Hit ok and then if it asks you to create a new form just say yes (this is important). Simply do this with everything that you want to keep, and then save your plugin s something new (just hit save and it'll ask you to give your new plugin a name). As for locations, you can easily duplicate any cell (although I'd only do it with interiors) by right-clicking it in the cell view window, and selecting duplicate cell. Again, rename this to whatever you want. You'd have to link it to the outside yourself, though, but this is easy. just place a door (not a static one, you need from from World objects>Doors). Then, double click the door, and go to the teleport tab (or something like that, I don't know off by heart). Then, select your duplicated cell in that tab, and go to the door that you want to teleport to. Two orange/yellow rectangular markers should appear at either door in the render window if it's worked. Simply position these to wherever that you want the player to teleport to when they use the other door (so where they exit the door, basically). You'll then be able to use the doors ingame.

Hope this helps,

You are my freaking hero, that's exactly what I was looking for.

I think that was the part that was eluding me, was setting none as the active file. And I didn't even know about the door links, that actually opens up a lot of possibilities. Thanks a bunch, I really appreciate it.
