Treasure Hunt

Unavi and I have created a pirate hook gauntlet and I am making a quest for it. As part of this quest I would like

to send the player on a little treasure hunt. With my image editing skills being what they are, however, I cannot make

one that I am satisfied with.

Also, if you could offer any advice on how to get the image into a book, as

I've had great difficulty with that, I would greatly appreciate it.

Here is an aerial view of the area I'd like the map to cover.

I'll only tell the person who agrees to make the map where the X is to go, of course. :P

The story-line, if your interested (minor spoiler warning) will be you meet a man whose

friend was executed by the Legion and who made him this map. You have to go dig it up because

of the obsessed and ruthless legion captain, who seems to have a vendetta against all pirates,

knows about the man and this map. And any pirate he catches is hanged. Even recently a fellow

that wasn't known as a pirate...

You need to have a picture of equal width and length if you want to do it an easy way. (512/512 etcetc,)

Although you want it inside the book for a reason. It might be easier to have it included separately or the page being 'torn' out by the player for a better view. As a scroll has a much better view.

Here is the stuff about getting them into books.

Well, it depends on what you want to view and what kind of type you want. These are with colors. Ancient Aeon is quite good with editing images, you might want to ask him. And if you have knights of the nine, you might want to check the size used there for the wayshrine map and indeed, the elderscrolls are a good example as well.

Concerning the thing it may not work, try capitalizing each first letter of the folder and do so in the link. Oblivion can be annoying concerning embedded images.

Are you sure the image you're trying to put in is smaller than 444x650 pixels? And is the size a power of two?

That's where I always mess up. :P It's also the only thing I can think of that could be going wrong...

I was planning on it being a scroll, actually. Sorry for not being clear.

I was hoping to give the impression that the image was painted,

similar to the first one you have there, with the instructions rather

shakily written over it.

I've actually looked at both the tutorials you and Argomirr gave,

but I'm still having trouble. I'll have to experiment some more.

Thank you for your help. I'll PM Ancient Aeon.

@Argomirr

I went back and altered my earlier stuff to be down to size, and

GIMP warns me about the power of 2 thing. I'll get it eventually, though.
