Hmm actually your right :D there's ways round it like

Staff bashing

and

Spears of Cyrodill

but there isn't anything that actually makes a proper spear animation it's just the staff animation but with the attack type of say a blade :)

No what I am saying is I actually figured out how to make it so spears are a blade + have the animation for a staff, If you wanna see I can make a video real quick, I think I already have a person set up with it

There's already a mod that does that called spears of cyrodill.

 

You set a key and it changes the attack animation of any weapon into a staff attack animation thus giving you the power to use any weapon as a spear.

Here is the video, notice that the spear is a blade one hand weapon and I am using blade one hand weapon, I did this with changing 1 simple thing, no scripts

How did you do it without a script? you changed the weapons animation type to a staff then how do you make it attack like a melee weapon?

see I told you, but I wont reveal this until I release the mod, since I don't want anyone to steal my idea

oh also this can be used for way more than just spears

I mean seriously It can be used for throwing knives, javelins, crossbow, throwing stars, pretty much an infinite number of weapon types
