I downloaded UPK Utils today to install to install a free camera mod.

So I tried the following steps:

1. Unzip the GUI Patcher tool and run the program

2. Set the location of my XCom-Enemy-Unknown\XEW folder

3. Set the location of the mod's text file

4. Click "Apply" -> Patch ran successfully

5. Click "XSHAPE" and got the following output:

----------------------------------------------------

Executing external XSHAPE program:
java -jar "C:\Users\User\Desktop\Games\XCOM\Patcher\Binaries\XSHAPE.jar" -v 0

XCOM SHA Patcher for Executable (XSHAPE) v0.13b

xcomgame.upk
xcomstrategygame.upk

ERROR(13)
USAGE: java -jar XSHAPE.jar -<verbose> <starting byte>
More information: http://code.google.com/p/xshape

----------------------------------------------------

Then I tried running the game and now it wouldn't run. Any help would be nice.

eu3fan, I need additional info: XCOM install location and game version, list of installed mods.

XSHAPE is known to produce errors with expanded packages, but it still calculates hashes right. But not in your case, apparently. Try an alternative method of skipping hash checks for EU: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/How_to_DIY_common_mod_solutions_-_XCOM:EU_2012#How_to_enable_UPK_changes_in_XCOM:EU

Thanks for the response. No, I am using EW, do that hash check workaround does not apply.

Mod list would be simply the 4 mods in the link provided in the original post.

Install location is in G:\, which is an external hard drive, not in program files folder. Game version is latest.

For EW you don't need XSHAPE at all, as EW doesn't check for hashes.

Use Steam cache verification to revert to vanilla game and re-install the mod.
