draugan1234
Ive been trying to modify the load order of my mods but whenever I open OBMM it doesnt show any of my esp's or esm's on the left side its just blank how do i get them to appear? XJDHDR
Your ESPs and ESMs appear in the box on the right, not the left. The box on the left is reserved for OMODs that you have created in OBMM.
Jenrai
Erm, actually X... its the left as you look at it. The right is the OMODs. Unless your sat behind your monitor. In which case thats just freaky. ;) Back to the OP - before any esps or esms will appear in OBMM they either have to be packaged OMODs imported into your OMOD folder by OBMM or placed there by you (ONLY if they are already OMODs. The creation procedure is not as simple as grabbing a load of files and zipping them. Well, technically it is, actually, but still, it won't work just dumping the files in there by hand unless they are already OMODs) or unzipped and copied into your data file. But I'm gonna guess you can read and know that already, so, onto the more likely issues: Question 1:Are you running windows Vista or 7? In which case, you need Oblivion installing ANYWHERE but C:program files. Like C:Games. Or even just C:Oblivion. Better yet a different drive altogether. Seriously. Microshafts attempts to protect you from using your computer the way you want to have extra security on the "program files" directory and all its sub-directories. Makes the UAC look like a kindegarten fence. And speaking of the UAC, deactivate it. Just turn it off. I got told off for advising people not to do that. So hey. Do it. Shut it down. You'll still need to give OBMM administrator rights and be running an admin profile for it to let you use mods. Oh, I think you might just have to give certain other programs admin rights too. Like Oblivion .exe, the OBSE launcher... not sure, just going on my limited knowledge of the UAC. In fact, if you are using Windows 7 or Vista, go to the articles section of TESNexus and find Bbens articles, one in there should answer all your questions and set you up nicely. Question 2: Is your version of OBMM/Oblivion up to date? Whilst most older/oldish versions of OBMM should still work, its probably better to be safe than sorry and get the newest version. And if your game is patched to version 1.20416, not only will it be infinitely more stable (even more so if you add the UOP as well) but most mods tend to need the latest version of the game to function. If you need the patch, either get it from the TES home page or from Steam/D2D if thats where you got the game. And remember, if you have the Shivering Isles expansion, you only need the SI patch (the Oblivion Patch is included and the Oblivion Only patch won't work) and it has to be in the same language as your disk (if you're using the English-EU version of the game, the English-US patch won't work, for example). If you have the GotY (Game of the Year) version, don't worry about it, you're bang up to date anyways. But you should still get the Unofficial Patch, as well as the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch, unofficial Knights patch, and unofficial mods patch for the rest of the DLCs. Only if you have them, of course. Question 3:Is your game pirated/are you using a no disk crack?Cracks first; They're evil. Pure evil. most contain malicious code and many simply do not work. If you get one that does you're a lucky *fatherless child* ... seriously, if you have to use a no disk version, virtually mount it. Its really not all that hard and most of the programs come with very comprehensive read-me's, plus you'll see enhanced performance and it'll definately work if done right. Now, if you're using a pirated version, don't be such a cheapskate... the game is like £6 or something now. Buy it! Pirate software is an excellent source... of viruses, malware, keyloggers, and various other undesirable thingymajigs that seriously, you don't want. Not to mention the fact that most Pirated games are incomplete and missing vital bits and bats. Hope somewhere in there I helped a little. ;) Jenrai
bben46
For Vista and Win7 related problems such as UAC, Check here: http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=262. Do you have any OMODs showing in the right window? If so, you must activate them before they will show in the left side where you can set load order - the right window OMODs are always in alphabetical order. When an OMOD is successfully installed, it will appears in the right window with a green block. double click on that block and it will convert the OMOD into a usable mod and put the esp in the left window. and the green block will turn blue to indicate that it has been done. (Note: some mods do not have an esp so nothing will show) There will be a check block beside each esp/esm in the left window. you can disable an esp without removing it buy unchecking it. To remove the mod (but keep it ready to use again as an OMOD) you double click on the blue block. it will uninstall the mod, remove the esp and every mesh and texture that was installed - and the OMOD will revert to a green block If you install mods manually, and do not use OMODs, any mod installed that has an esp in the data folder should show in the left window - with NOTHING referencing it in the right window. Once an esp/esm is shown in the left window, you can change its load order. Remember ALL esm MUST be before any esp.

Jenrai
Methinks you need to chill out a bit and step back and look at what you are doing. People have this game running with mods, perfectly, on every available operating system. The problem is at YOUR end. Chill and think things through. Don't get stressed or you'll continue to botch things up, and very probably make things worse.Study the programs you are trying to use and any advice for using the game & mods with your operating system. Bben's previously linked articles are fantastic and cover a lot of ground without going into all the technical mind bending stuff. Remember we were all new at this once too and if you give us enough information we can help you, and when we can't we can prod you in the direction of people/sites/information that can.Take your time and do things one at a time. Don't rush to download and install 300 mods and utilities because you WILL break your game. And lastly, if your game is pirated, mods WON'T WORK. Have fun sorting that one out if that's the case, coz you'll be getting no help around here. Jenrai
bben46
Does the game run without mods?Even if you have not installed any mods at all, you should still see Oblivion.esm in the mod list. The game will not work without it. OBMM is not a mod and does not install like a mod. Be sure to read the instructions for installing. It must be installed in the Oblivion folder - the same folder where the data folder is located. The mods must be installed in the data folder. You should not have any zipped files in the data folder - they should be kept somewhere else, outside of the Oblivion folder. When you extract the mod you extract from where you have the zipped file into the data folder. If you see a folder in the data folder with the name of a mod, it was installed wrong. When you extract the mod into the data folder, it will place an esp (modname.esp) file in the data folder. Then that esp can be used by OBMM and the game. If OBMM is installed properly, every mod that has an esp or esm that is properly installed in the Oblivion/data folder will show up. One error I have seen is people expect a mod to install automatically. THEY DON'T. You must do the work. download, read the read me to see what must be done, extract the mod, and then install it. Over a million people have learned to install and use mods. You can too.
