staticnoise Posted February 19, 2010 Share Posted February 19, 2010 i have put all the esm's up topchecked all mods for "you gotta put it at the bottom/top" type and put them where they are said to gotossed out that mods that was poorly made, incompatible ecti have less than 125 modsturned off quad qore (that helped alot with crashes)got FOSEgot FO3edit...ran it checked it...read the tutorial thingy...ran master update...modded up/made a merged patch...checked double checked mods ecti hardly ever crash now or have any problems (other than the tutorial thingy for Fo3 edit AINT for noobs like it says...right from tha start that thing is confusing) it seemed all was clear and cool...but i still get crash on save/save corruption...and its not everywhere...for the time being its near fort banister....and i say near because...it didnt happen the first time till i went all the freakin way though slow going creeping along sneaking killing everything and grabbing up what i wanted finised and left save crash...so i back tracked....and then...it happened outside before going inside...i backt racked...its happened inside...i back tracked...and a few more back tracks and combos of happens out side then inside or vise versa....currently i cant get past the first door after in the sewer like room where whats his face BoS guy runs in a dies....so it happens in many different random locations on that path from right before freeing him to a room or so after he gets his twit self killed (lol..or i let him die and dont try to save him...what run there with no helmet on almost alone stuff him he asking for it lol)...anyway...cant seem to find any conflicts related to this in FO3 edit...though i have no idea if i checking correctly cause tha tutorial on how ta use it is confusing to no end to me... i am pretty fed up with living in constant fear the game is gonna just be not worth it crash on save to much....people have all these opinions about consols vs. pc games...but jesus man consol...fire it up and play no mods and stuff....but trying to play a game on a consol does not become all this extra WORK....i work all day i dont need my home source of entertainment becomeing WORK...i understand mods and modding more complicated...this isnt the first game i have played with mods i have even made the for past games....they all have troubles....but i have NEVER had so much trouble with any video game ever for anything one clown said well learn more about mods/games/pc's ect.....look if this stuff doesnt become more casual person friendly its gonna stay in conflict and NOT get more people attracted to it..now there isnt alot people can do to help the problems dropped in our laps by pooly developed games, crashy buggy mod tools (like tha geck) but the modding community...plenty help the best they can...but i dont think some realize...there are more types of people with problems than just impacient little kids who dont listen and wanna hurry hurry....some people are pacient....but its entertainment i dont get paid for....only so much work is worth it....is it worth it bashing your head in with a hammer just to go to the doc and get some morphine to feel good?not to mention getting totally bored with area after area in game from testing testing testing fixing fixing fixing....one of the main reasons i just wanna play this time and not mod is before there was so much messing with modding a game i never go to really play it and have fun...tinkering is fun....but i dont wanna tinker on the junker in tha yard till i die....wanna drive the stupid thing eventually and not hate it cause im sick of looking at it...modding and tinkering can be its own fun sure i have been there....but dont wanna tinker till the game isnt fun anymore this time anyway...what am i missing? what kinda info can i give to get help with this issue? also i have this weird issue about crashing sometimes....i know no matter what stuff is gonna crash eventually...this is more about the weirdness of this way it happens.....i go somewhere go about my buisness playing...and crash...oh well try again....exact same spot crash...test a few times...same spot crash...and i mean exact same spot...im not counting tha pixels....but i am checking the steps i take...and same spot every time crash...EXCEPT...i step save...i step save i step save...till i get to the crash spot...to find it so to speak...and when i save super close step crash reload...im like standing on it/to close maby? and no crash...so seems kinda weird to me oh one more thing...my capitol building has some how become full of invisible walls...and can't find any info on that problem...i was sure i saw some info on that some place...but super awesome fantastic internet forums searches everyone swears by isnt helping me find that info lol anyway thanks if read this and thanks if ya can help :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You say you're backtracking going outside and inside which leads me to believe it's not every save, such as auto save when entering a new area. staticnoise Posted February 20, 2010 Author Share Posted February 20, 2010 not when loading a cell...when i go to esc menu and click save....back tracking as in taking out the save file that is now corrupted going back to a previous save and trying again...checking different ways....like is it gonna happen just in that area all over.....or is it happeing only after going inside.....cause its happens like this most times....go about my buisness (for this example useing most recent happening and area) clean out (kill and loot and whatever else) the fort bannister area.....as i go along i make saves....everythings fine....go inside...(or eventually get where ever) keep making saves every once inna while....get done inside...go back outside...fast travel someplace (most times its after fast trave but not 100% of tha time) next save after that CTD....so from what i have gathered its a corrupt save...and the only thing i know to do is narrow down where it happened sorta...i back track though the saves repeating everything i did...wich most i cant save its corrupted....ventually i get back to a save that fine and doesnt crash when i click to save...so that tells me about where it happened sorta i guess....on this particular occasion i was safe leaving from the fort before going in i could fast travel away and save and be fine....but if i went inside...no good...and to make clear i could keep on saving many times all i flippin wanted....save fine save fine save fine....but if i had been inside for bannister (or wherever else when this happens) and go back out and thenf ast travel...then try to save blam no go crash.......but its not always an inside outside type of thing...so times i an just going along outside in tha waste blah blah ect...and eventually crash on when i try to save....no biggie go back to last save....but try and save again no go...back up to even farther back saves....it doesnt work crash.....so i could save....but not go back to where i was able to save before....or not be able to fast travel and save after....so its like it kills recently previously made saves like.... save A all good save B (new save seperate save) all good save C all good save D crash go back to C crash on next save so C is screwed go back to B next save crash B is screwed go back to A all good...preceed with retraceing steps to discover everything is ok....or discover its not...and most times its not...and it is within a area...like the above example going inside fort banister spelled doom....even thought i could save all i wanted in there....but come back outside and change area (fast travel) dun dun dun rawr crash when attempting to save tha game what i have heard or seen around its the save files get corrupted....well awesome sauce....what does a person do about it? make sure esms are up top....done things got better awesome happens more eventually.....what to do? get Fo3 edit.......ok i did great now what? i make a mered pacth like suggested....mater update all that to the letter...i check for errors though i cant figure out from the tutorial thingy what i would do about errors if i found any.......only thing i see it red=conflict merged patch should fix some of these....and thats about it....what else? people are like get FO3edit and run master update make sure to "modup" correctly....and thats all...nothing else as if that will work....well it didnt....so i was asking if there is anything else i can do? sorry for tha long blah blah blah but people always say please give more detail lol :D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
staticnoise Posted February 20, 2010 Author Share Posted February 20, 2010 oh and i should add so its clear im not just will nilly making a mess of my mods and folders ect...or my machine sux....or anything else is happening.....generally....i dont crash anymore....game runs great no lag blah blah.....just have this never know when im gonna crash trying to save after i fast travel problem......its just real bad like how often to i have to save like every five mins to cover my butt cause i dont know when im gonna crash tryingto save after a fast travel....well save before you do that.....well that dont work hince tha back tracking....everytime it happens i have to go back seveal saves (like ummm anywhere between 2 or 3 to 25 saves back) before i can find a spot when its not tainted.....it could spell out alot of lost game play time effort....dont ever wanna go back been there 1000000billiontimes dont know if its safe...gonna run outa areas to play in....replay value sinking down tha drain....and all the effort a person goes though just to get the game to work right....is it worth it bothering knowing at any random time your screwed? whats the point in saves if they gonna be tainted at any random given time....or is there something im missing and could fix? One common thing that will cause crashes (especially on newer games) is overclocking (not actually the overclocking itself, as every component on your computer is pre-(over)clocked at the factory already, but overclocking too much). 1. load order is different now...clean FOMM/FOSE/FO3edit/MasterUpdate/Merged patched/and checked and double checked for errors and conflits and cleaned out...i reinstalled to clear up the noob mess i made...however one issue i found people here said was nah no biggie....was and esp in FOMM has an extra warning "WARNING: This plugin has the file extension .esp, but its file header marks it as an esm!" well i finally noticed these should really go (i think) after normal esm's....the reason i think this is thier index didnt change or was off....i.e modA esp show an index # of 14 but its way way down beween 45 and 46 like 45 14 46...and that cant be right being dont they auto change thier index when your move them around in load order? well these did change to make sense when i moved them after normal esm's and before esp's (this is all guess work based on the only logic i could put together mostly on my own being no one had any input on it that i could see or find) but it worked 2. nope 3. yes it is GoTY wich is 1.7 i make sure i check the official web site and here...and from what i see and gather GoTY is 1.7 4. drivers all up to date 5. tha bonus....i had a friend here help me out and things seem to be ok now after cleaning up my noob mess i made.....that would be getting mods and playing them....not likeing them or finding out they conflicted with something or finding out they was a mess and not made well and only taking out the esp and info i saw but not really paying attention to all the extra stuff an esp needs they gets crammed into mesh folders texture folders weapons folders ect...pretty sure you know what i mean...lol i made a noob mess like i said...main reason for making that mess was i didnt catch on to the idea of downloading mods and keeping them seperate....like dont just drop them in and play....good idea have saved a copy...then when i want to remove a mod...i can refer to the copy stuffed some place else and see everything i need to take it out 7. extra scene from the special edition DVD version....i could be totally wrong hince the way i explain all this....i guesing from what i can gather...i think some peoples idea of a noob sometimes gives a new person to much credit....some of us are i guess worse than noodish....i dont think everyone goes in the only two catagorys of lazy and not....some people dont get it and DO read EVERYTHING but for some people who are just wanting to have some fun playing a game when not busy with the rest of life....well we are worse than noob and just dont get it....or you can say there is more than two types of people in tha world :) sometimes i think calling someone lazy is the excuse for them being lazy and not wanting to put forth the effort to someone who is still trying but is just dumb about computers...but i understand i have been there and seen the mass of kids screaming and crying now now now why why shash pc rawr!! For some people it seems to help though. I will read the section of the doc for FO3Edit today thru though so I know exactly what the Masterupdate does, so I can advice people about it better :)About the way you type: I read all of the text you typed, and even understood it all, so it's ok :D To the point though: you shouldn't load the Umpa's .esp if you're using Groovatron, as they conflict. For Groovatron to work properly, you need all the resources from the Umpa package though. Just don't load both .esp:s at the same time. MMM .esm should be loaded last of the .esm:s. You already have MMM loading last on the .esp side which is the way to go for it to work best. I think the .esm files with the .esp extension are mods that have been converted to .esm:s thru Tes4Snip. Mostly the ones I have encountered have been old mods, so I'm not 100% sure of that though. At the time of 1.5 update the modders had to circumvent a lot of things to get past the bugs and weirdness the update brought, and for that time I have no knowledge, other than it was horror for modders and mod users :) 1.7 is the newest FO3 version, and also the GOTY is prepatched to 1.7. The 1.7 is a requirement for many mods, even though they don't list it in the requirements. I think this is the result of making a mod with GECK 1.5 on a system that has FO3 1.7 installed. Just a guess. I hope MY wall of text helps you :) EDIT: After checking the FO3Edit documentation about the Masterupdate, all it seems to do is making the .esp files into .esm:s... I'm not sure if it's even needed with FO3 v1.7 anymore, as the documentation only refers to bugs in 1.5 and 1.6... The description is way too generalized for me to touch it myself, unless somebody describes EXACTLY what it does, why it does it, and is the info still accurate for 1.7...
