David Brasher
This link leads to the site everyone uses for answers to all sorts of questions: Elder Scrolls Construction Set Wiki There is more information there then you could probably ever read. There are many tutorials there. If you get stuck and have a highly specific question, this forum is a good place to ask it. I use Oblivion Mod Manager, but other people use other loaders. I don't really have a strong opinion on that.
MonsterHunterMaster
If you go to the install directory of oblivion, you will find a data folder there For example, mine is: C:\Games\Oblivion\Data You put all the mod files into this data folder. When you download the mods here, you have to unzip them first. Then you will see that the mod contains some folders (meshes, textures) and a .esp file (sometimes they also contain a .esm file.)You have to put all those files into the Data folder of Oblivion. But before you use mods, make sure you have the Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) installed, because some mods only work with it. Just unzip the file into your Oblivion folder (NOT the data folder, the files have to be in the same folder as your Oblivion.exe is)Get OBSE here! Also make sure to install the Oblivion Mod Manager, because sometimes the game crashes down don't work if you have the wrong load order. With the Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) you can change this load order. Get OBMM here! When you have OBMM installed, you can install the mods. (Put the Mod files into your Data folder!)Then you start OBMM and there you can see a list of all the mods you have installed. Now you have to check the mods you want to appear in the game (if you don't want to play with some mods you just uncheck them, you don't have to delete them out of your data folder!).After you checked all the mods you want to appear, just click Launch in the Oblivion Mod Manager and the game starts! Before you install anything, backup your Data-folder of Oblivion, so you have a clean Data-folder, if you want to play Vanilla Oblivion (Vanilla Oblivion=Normal Oblivion without Mods) or you want to delete all the mods completely. bben46
You must install the mod before it will show up. The one you have chosen is not a simple mod. I recommend finding one much simpler for your first mod. I have seen many people get frustrated and give up on mods because they don't just install themselves, and they started with a complex mod that was not easy. I have a set of help files for people who are not computer geeks and are new to mods. They include downloading, extracting (unzipping) installing and activating mods. I have included a simple mod to practice on and instructions for installing and using 7-zip. If you are interested, click on the highlighted link below to be taken to the site where they are kept. I recommend starting with #1 and working your way through them. http://s1.zetaboards.com/TheStormRavenLibrary/forum/256092/ If you use them I would appreciate some feedback as to what needs improvement and what works for you. Before starting to add mods, read this article. It will save much aggravation and make it easier. Link to Bben's Mod Advicehttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=342.
