codepoet
Well, as the topic asks.. I'm trying to figure out how far idle markers will work from. Reason for asking, you have a house in a cell. Can I use different idle markers in different rooms. Or should I only make one idle marker for the whole cell? Thanks for any advice your able to give!cp
pkleiss
Its not that idle markers have a range. Its that the NPC's AI package has a range. If you have an NPC with a sandbox package with a raduis of 2000 for example, then the NPC will use all the idle markers it can with a 2000 unit radius while sandboxing. Note that not all idle markers work for all Actors in every circumstance.

Idle markers can even overlap. Remember that if there energy level is set too high it can look weird as they quickly move from one to the other. I found that about 50 is the most natural. I even sometimes use chairs positioned to the right height and placed inside beds then re-scaled to be unseen outside the actual bed and then the bed is used for sitting or sleeping, It doesn’t look right to have a bed that is not used to sit on especially in a small area. This can also be done for table’s benches anywhere that someone would naturally sit.
codepoet
Thank you both greatly. It's exactly what I needed to know. It's easy to see how important idle markers are to game immersion. Thanks again,cp
