IndorilTheGreat
I'm just curious what people think about the level "No Russian" in Modern Warfare 2, as it is quite a controversial topic. I could understand how the concept of this level could be offensive to many different people. But what people need to realize, is that it is JUST A VIDEO GAME. Why do people play video games? So they can do things they can't in real life. I mean come on. You're not going to learn how to shoot a gun by pulling a trigger on a controller. It's not going to turn you into a terrorist or anything. Sheperd even says, "It will cost you a peice of yourself." at the beginning. It's not like Infinity Ward is promoting mass murder or anything - it's just that it's a whole new concept (organized mass murder). Like when one peice swim-suits came out in the 1920's, everyone was all like, "OMG! Legs!" 0_o Still though, the concept is very controversial for a very good reason. What do you all think? Vagrant0
Let's just not go there. Although it may admittedly seem trivial, the fact remains that games like this can in some instances be used as a means of enforcing certain ideas and hostilities against a specific group. Russians wouldn't be any more fond of the idea than Americans would be of a game which features Americans in a "bad guy" role, to be slaughtered endlessly. Although there might be some valid point of discussion here, I would rather not see this turn into some sort of nationalistic flame war as the topic and title might lead it to be.
