Construction Set Problem

Ok, I finally got my brand new copy of Oblivion the other day, and I already have a problem with it.

Well, not the game itself, but the Construction Set.

First of all, here is a list of things you should know:

Oblivion is 100% legitimate - I'm no cheap skate

Version of Oblivion: Latest patched version from the SI/KotN Expansions (Game of the Year Edition)

Official Mods/Unofficial - Again, 100% legitimate. But these ain't the problem at the moment.

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium (32bit)

Ok, now ontopic.

Its not a problem itself with the entire Construction Set program.

It's just that I've got a problem patching it.

I downloaded the Construction Set from the following link:- From the Official Website of course.

http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_utilities.htm

Are all of Bethesda's Software mega unstable or is it just me? I remember having the same problem a long time ago with Morrowind when they released a patch with the Construction Set.

I've no idea about Fallout 3 though, whether thats a mega unstable game aswell. I.E. Lots of crashes or the Construction Set crashes alot.

After installing the Construction Set, I downloaded the patch for it. Once trying to apply the patch, I got this message pop up on my screen

Anyone got any ideas? Or did you just leave the Construction Set Un-patched?

Any help is appreciated in advance :D

Kind Regards,

You only need the construction set if you are going to make your own mods. It's not needed either to play the game or use the mods that are already made.

I recommend at least playing the game first before deciding what mods you really want. Then looking to see if the mod you want to make has already been made. Then use the CS to tweak the mods to suit yourself.

Hm, I may have. Opening the Construction Set itself doesn't show the version, kinda crappy. Devs may have left that out.

I'm planning to make my own mods- and tweak ones that I've downloaded without redistributing. I have played the game in the past. Just the copy I had before didn't work when i tried to install it again because of a damaged CD :( Had to pay another maybe $30 for GoTY

I have 1.2.404 and the version is listed under 'Help'...'About'.

You can also figure out what you have if you kept the launcher (setup) for the install, because it has the name (what you clicked to install it).

tes_construction_set_1.2.404 is the updated version

oblivion-construction-set is the 1.0 version

patch_tes_construction_set_1.2.404 is the patch to update 1.0 to 1.2.404

The version is 1.2.404 - Probably explains why, can't update the thing thats already fully updated? Epic fail.

Thanks for the help :D
