LoofSquared
Now, for few hours, I've been trying to figure out the possibilites of modding the night sky.Well, it seems the sky is divided into parts, the nebula (on the center) and stars (all the 'building blocks' of the sky). I could, of course, change the nebula part, but I'd want the whole sky replaced with texture I made from the Eagle Nebula. The only possibility turned out to be the 'stars' texture, but as the texture is added to the sky in form of those annoying evil 'blocks', I cannot add the texture without making it match on the sides, (wich in turn would make it look boring when the same nebula can be seen over and over again.) To put it simple, my question is: Can it be done? And no, I'm not afraid of the "no" answer, I just wanted to hear the answer, if it happens to be possible somehow. Megatarius
I apologize for not being able to answer your question, but I just thought I'd chime in with a related point: As long as you're modding the night sky, you should be aware that the moon's lit side faces away from the sunset. Vagrant0
Not to take the wind out of your sails, but you might want to have a look athttp://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15427 He seems to correct for most of the tiling by making the texture wider than it is tall and applying it as an override to the nebula texture instead of the stars. The extracted meshes within \meshes\sky and \textures\sky might also be worth looking at, in particular if you were wanting to make an all-encompassing replacement and had some degree of 3d skill and access to modeling software. 3rdtryguy
Ah, goody, a sky thread. Now I don't have to start a new one. I'll be in and out quickly without wrecking things here, I hope. While we're on the subject of the sky, can someone point me to the place in the CS where I can change the daytime sky? I want to make a sky that looks quite different than the one we're used to seeing, being the sky as seen from Masser, Nirn's big red moon. The air there is very, very thin at best, so the sky should not be blue, ( maybe pinkish? ) and the stars should be visible even by day. The planet Nirn should loom large in the sky day and night. At night, the sky should pretty much disappear, leaving a very clear view of the stars and Nirn & Secundus, and the ambient lighting should be low. By day, the stars and such should fade dramatically but still be slightly visible, the ambient lighting should be bright, and the sun should be very bright and downright blazing. I figure the texture for the ground can be similar to that found in much of Elsweyr, but with a more reddish tinge added to it. Together these changes should make for a pretty convincing moon environment, assuming that Masser is a bit like Mars. This is of course for my "Mission To Masser" astronaut mod. Thanks for any help! I'll leave you now to your regularly scheduled thread already in progress.
Leodoidao
To put a new sky in the game with the construction set: You will have to look for the "weather" and "climate" sections in the toolbar, then: 1- Create a new weather; add the new sky texture to the weather (upper and lower layer) 2- Create a new climate; add your new weather to the new climate, Just remember that if you want to create a brand new sky, you will have to play the artist and some texturing... This was the sky I created for the Colored Rooms project using textures from that sky mod I listed. http://www.tesnexus.com/imageshare/image.php?id=52345Unfortunately, most of them don't work well for the stars "backdrop" object due to how the image tiles, but as it is a .nif, you can probably make a few additions and changes in the mesh, the texturing, or just how the texture is mapped. As for making the stars show in the daytime, I'm not entirely sure, you may be able to just make use of an upper sky texture that is semi-transparent, or changing the color values related to the stars value within the weather type. As what you're doing is a bit outside the norm, you will likely need to work through trial and error.
3rdtryguy
Hmmm... okay, thanks! This is gettin' complicated. I have at least come up with some cool stuff that at least makes this all worth doing. For example, I think that the ten ayleid statues that Umbacano wanted are really supposed to be a key to a secret teleporter which the elves used to escape when White Gold Tower was overrun. That teleporter is long past any useful state, but I figure the insane ex-guild mage helping me might like very much to get some parts from it, so some sneaky questing will be in order. Still, it's easier than building a rocket. Building a big telescope from mirrors and dwemer parts could be a good miniquest, too, along with figuring out how to create a spell for breathing not water, but.. nothing. ( or maybe creating a ridiculous spacesuit? ) Alas, thinking up all this stuff is a lot easier than making it actually happen.
