Why do prices I change in the CS stay the same in game?

Sorry if there's a tutorial that covers this. I couldn't find anything. Everything I read about barter formulas doesn't indicate anything should have gone wrong.

What happened was, I was trying to change the value of some standard clothing items. I changed the value that appears in the formID's dialogue box that appears when you open the Objects Window. I assume this is the base value of the object, right? I see the barter formulas look at that first, and then look at haggle slider and seller skill stuff. Great. No problem. I figured I'd be paying a lot for my new silk robe with gold embroidery that has no business being the same price as rough wool. :wallbash:

I went to Divine Elegance and it was the regular price! (Yes I checked the .esp in OBMM). I set that thing to be 1000 and it was 23 with me driving a mildly hard bargain and the merchant's skill at expert.

Clearly the game is not recognizing my changes.

What's going on? :thanks:

Either you have some other mod which is taking precedence over that change (due to load order), or it's something that gets locked as it is when the game begins and the first item of that type gets loaded into memory. Try starting a new game, cheat, and see if it changes the price.

Well, I tested as you said with a new start, and with every other mod disabled. (This .esp is at the very bottom anyway, but I disabled them.)

The values are still at the vanilla values.

Try creating new items. Just rename a vanilla clothing item, make your changes and click 'ok'. You will be asked if you want to create a new item. Click 'yes'. Save the esp and THEN add your new item to a world space or a container. Save the esp again. That should work. Good luck. :)

BAM!!!

Thank you. It did the trick. Now I just have to figure out why, when I put it in Palonyria's vendor chest's leveled list, it didn't show up in her for sale screen. I still have a lot to learn, but this was really stumping me.

In the Render window go to ICMarketDistrictDivineElegance. In the Cell View window find the object DivineElegancePaloniryaChest. Click it one time so its highlighted red green and blue. Then Ctrl C (copy) and Ctrl V (paste). Save the the esp. Double click your NEW chest to open it. In the Reference Window that pops up click Edit Base. Rename the chest like you did the clothing items and follow the same steps. The new chest in the Render window will now be a new object you can add to or delete items from. Palonirya's AI only allows her to sell CLOTHING. Now you can add or delete clothing items in your copy chest and she should sell them. Look in the reference window to be sure she is still the owner of the chest. Go to the Lock tab and uncheck Lock so she can get into the thing. Make sure the new chest is a persisent reference and, if you like, you can give the chest a new Reference Editor ID, just to be sure this crap will work the first time. Save the esp and see what happens. Fun, ain't it? :wallbash:
