Akaviri701
Hi, I'm Akaviri701. I'm new here, so I don't know if other people have had this issue before. Here's my problem. I use a Windows 7 64-bit computer, first of all, and it's given me a fair share of problems.Recently, I had to reinstall the game because the master files became corrupted when I was trying to install a self-made mod from the construction set. When I reinstalled the game, everything was working fine, so I decided to download the CM companions mod for the heck of it.When I jumped into the game for the first time since the reinstall, I went up to a person to speak with him and BLAM! The game crashes just as I'm entering speech mode.Ever since then, the game has crashed when I try to speak to someone, even with the CM Companions completely off.I don't know what the problem is, and I'm desperate to figure it out, because until this problem is solved, I can't make a new character to play as! :wallbash: Please help! bben46
Just disabling the esp, or even deleting the esp does not actually remove the complete mod. Using OBMM's optional OMOD format to install and remove will remove everything. To manually remove you must go into all of the subfolders that a mod places things into and take everything that was placed there by the mod out - OMODs do all of this for you (and more). Instead of reinstalling when you have a serious mod problem, try reverting to vanilla. Here is my revert to vanilla article - how to go back to the original state without reinstalling.http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=340 You should also have the latest patch version installed, and be using OBSE also. Note, OBSE & OBMM are not mods and do not install like mods. So please read their entire instructions before installing them. Jenrai
All above is sound advice... one other thing to be wary of... Did you only download Companions before playtesting again, or did you install a hella load of mods? Some mods don't like each other, some are just plain broke, and some effect the game in ways you could never imagine, ways that they really shouldn't because they don't touch whatever they break, but they still manage to break it. If you're using more than just Companions, posting a load order might help someone to isolate the problem faster. Jenrai
Akaviri701
Apparently all I had to do was re-download the new patch, but thanks for all the help! I'll keep coming back here if I ever need help again. Still, it's kinda funny how simple it was. I thought Oblivion GOTY already had the latest patch.
