Rebuild the Battlespire

First off, yes, I know, yet another epic idea from Kieranfoy. Yawn.

Anyway, I'm astounded the idea hasn't come up.

The idea is simple. The Battlespire, famed academy of battlemages, has been destroyed, shattered beyond repair, and blasted into the void.

The might of the College of Battlemages is waning, as many of it's best and brightest died in the Daedra assault. Most of the still-living members are nothing more than steel-clad, axe-swinging grunts who can manage a decent fireball.

But the Chancellor will not allow this. In the wake of the Oblivion Crisis, here is no room for vulnerability. The College of Battlemages MUST be restored.

That's where the Champion of Cyrodiil comes in. You battle Daedra, quested for relics, but now you have to take on your most daunting role...

administrator.

Divines help you, you sorry b@st@rd, but you're going to have to manage human resources to get this done; from contacting sme the most brilliant, eclectic, morally relatavistic, prideful, and occasionally insnae mages to create the demi-plane of existance that the Battlespire will reside in; to building the d@mn thing, to recruiting the mages that will instruct and the aprentices who will learn.

Possible quests:

Recruit the mages: The Battlespire needs competant instructors, and skilled craftsmages to build it. Most of them want something first.

Politicking, Daedra-style: the realms of Oblivion may not all be controlled by the Daedric Princes, but you really should get the blessings of a few. Wouldn't want a repeat of the last Battlespire's fate.

Defeat the Invaders: Even after you finish building it, there're adversaries. From a series of terrorist attacks by rogue necromancer cults who just hate the Mages Guild and the Empire that much to Mehrunes Dagon feeling miffed by three consecutive slaps in the face by Tamriel trying to get his own back, the problems never end.

NEEDS: Meshes and textures, quest-makers and writers, lore-experts, maybe voice-acters, interior designers, etc.

Personally, I can write and do creatively bizzare interior design.

@Alonsomartinez: Sweet. Welcome aboard.

@littlebritish: None. It all took place in the Battlespire, a massive facility (think Hogwarts meets Major Paine), which hung in the void between the Mundus and Oblivion.

Kieran beat me to it! :P

The Battlespire was not located in Nirn. It was in a "pocket realm", not

really an oblivion plane, but a space between Oblivion and Nirn.

This made it a fairly unassailable (they thought) stronghold.

This is the intro video:

It was, in a way, one of the first mods. It was, essentially, a massive 7 level

dungeon in the game where you had only one goal, rescue your companion who

was kidnapped by Mehrunes Dagon during the assault.

An idea for a quest:

Rebuild the Weir Gate (or establish a new one)

- The Weir Gate is essentially a teleporter to the Battlespire

From the book "Doors of Oblivion":

We had hopes of using the ruins of the Battlespire to access Oblivion. The Weir Gate still stands, though the old proving grounds of the Imperial Battlemages itself was shattered some years ago in Jagar Tharn's time. Sadly, after an exhaustive search through the detritus, we had to conclude that when it was destroyed, all access to the realms beyond, the Soul Cairn, the Shade Perilous, and the Havoc Wellhead, had been broken. It was probably for the good, but it frustrated our goal.

So, it still exists, as apparently the floating island the Battlespire

once stood upon does as well, as one can access the ruins.

You have my help, as always, Kieran. I am stretched a little thin, but I'll help all I can.

You might want to see if L33 has a daedric crescent we could use,

I believe he had made one. Battlespire was the weapon's introduction

and as every soldier in Dagon's army brought one, there's bound to

be a couple (even if the Empire did destroy and outlaw them).
