z9dragon
Awhile ago I tried making a custom texture of the splint mail (or maybe scale mail) armor. I got everything working fine, I even got the textures showing up in the toolset as an appearance option, And I also got the items added to my inventory in-game, but when my character tries to equip the armor, all I got is a Whitish tan color, all over the mesh. I know im using the right race/gander combination, and I put the DDS files in the High and Medium texture folders. Does anyone have any ideas what I might have done wrong? P.S. I used these things to make my custom armor, http://social.bioware.com/5339/blog/576/http://social.bioware.com/11689/blog/http://social.bioware.com/project/41/ and I have successfully added several other thing into the game using the toolset, including a sword and a helm which were NOT rextextured, and they worked fine. Are the textures in <my docs>/BioWare/Dragon Age/AddIns/<plugin>/core/textures/medium and /high? Are these textures just copies of each other or did you actually create different textures for high vs. medium? What does your custom MAO look like and where is it located in your addin folder structure? Did you do textures/MAOs for all 3 LODs? What are the custom texture/MAO filenames (i.e. how long are they?) Do you have specular/tint textures too, and if so, how did you create them (tools, options, etc.)? If you are using DATool, copy your custom .MMH, .PHY, and .MAO to the location where DATool is installed, then use File->Open in DATool to open your .MMH file from that local location (if the model/mao is not local it doesn't work properly for some random weird reason). Does DATool show your model with your custom diffuse texture? (It can and should find the DDS textures from your addins path; don't copy the textures local to DATool too, just the MMH/PHY/MAO). These questions assume you are creating a new item variant with custom MMH/MAO/texture names (but referencing an existing MSH), and not just doing a straight texture replace/override of an existing item. z9dragon
Turns out I put the DDS files in the textures folder of the module folder, not the core folder. Now I feel like an idiot. Thanks for the help, it works fine now, although the textures looks like crayon, but thats just my bad artwork skills. Don't suppose you know anyway to give colors a metallic sheen in Gimp, do you?
