josh3135
I'm running a piece of crap machine, integrated graphics, etc. etc. All my settings are on Low, No AA, Frame Buffer is off, V-Sync on/off doesn't matter. Multi-Render off, 800*600 Resolution. I know I need a new video card, but until that time comes, I was looking for a quick and dirty hack. Is there any way to get rid of the flora (grass, trees) in the game? It's a serious FPS killer. Indoor areas run great, but as soon as I set foot outside, and the game wants to load trees and grass, my FPS drops down to almost nothing. The first battle outside of Ostagar with the wolves drops my machine down to single digit FPS. I know there's no console commands for removing it (major oversight by Bioware, by the way). How about the files and folders in the C:\Program Files\Dragon Age\packages\core\env folder? Is there anything I can delete that will keep the game from rendering grass and trees? Or am I SOL until I get a new video card?
Balagor
To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to get rid of grass/trees. Anyway it would not be much of a game without, I think.
Tikkidew
Sorry I haven't seen anything for improving the game's performance on older computers. Only thing I could think of is trying to get those tweaks for your videocard.
DarkeWolf
yeah man, I hate to tell you this but with a video card that uses shared memory, you're screwed :(As you get further and further into the game, the graphics only get more intense, because the areas get bigger and more developed, and because you have a lot more stuff moving around in it. Especially once you get into areas like Denerim, and Orzammar. Add on top of this, your graphics card is using up your system's ram. This game sucks down ram like nobody's business, and has a flawed memory leak. So it will just keep eating your ram, till it starves and then crashes. With that vid card also taking up your ram, you can't feed the pig for as long. :( Also, I'm guessing that this is a PC, and not a laptop, I hope? I'd recommend to just start saving up. Keep an eye out on ebay for a good deal, keep checking at bestbuy.com and microcenter.com. both sites have sales on vid cards fairly often.
