Vagrant0
Northmarkers aren't particularly needed for all interiors. Their main usage is only in cases when the door leading to the interior is not at a straight north, south, east, west direction, but is aligned at a different non-90 angle. If the interior is set to a straight angle, or reasonably close, you can just rotate everything in the interior as needed. If not, you would need to use a northmarker to point in the direction of what north SHOULD be. An interior can only ever have only one north marker. If you can't add one to an interior, you should double check the list of objects in the interior incase it is there, just moved away from or below the other objects. If no object is listed, you may need to use the search and replace feature of the CS to re-add one. Do this by placing another object within the cell (nightmother statue for convenience) and use the search and replace option on that object to change it to a northmarker. That said, in most cases, you shouldn't need to bother with northmarkers as very few people even pay attention to the compass when transitioning between cells. I certainly wouldn't let it be a reason for abandoning several hours of work. For future reference, you might want to ignore google and search either the CS wikihttp://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Main_PageThese forums, or the Bethsoft forums for CS related problems. You'll find that the knowledge base is a bit more reliable than anything you might find with google. Edited March 2, 2010 by Vagrant0

David Brasher
I firmly believe in using northmarkers in interior cells. Sure, you can just select and rotate everything, but then if you ever want to remodel the interior by adding a few more tiles, you are sunk! You can't use snap-to-grid if the place you are remodeling had been moved out of the grid. You could go back and fix every single tile to put it on the grid, but then you have to go back and fix every single piece of clutter too. Be smart, don't start. Rotating is a very bad thing. Vagrant0 has some excellent advice on how to obtain map markers when the CS is glitching. Another possible option is to go to a cell that has a northmarker and copy it. Then return to the cell you are working in and paste it.
7vincent7black7
Hey guys, I'm doing the cs tutorial for oblivion, version 1.2 with oblivion game of the year addition though that doesnt matter really. But I'm looking for the northmarker and its not even on the list. It says look for it under worldobjects -> Static-> Northmarker and there is no northmarker section under static. Do I have to make a clean install or something? Nevermind, I clicked on static to display all static items and found it in complete list, there's just no subsection which is what I thought the writer had meant.
