mcdeansthename
Hi ive been playing oblivion with mods for a long time and recently got a new laptop (hp dv7)when i first got the game and installed it worked beautifuly after adding a good amount of mods i was still able to play then due to me messing up the compatability with certain mods i had to reinstall the game but after that the game started to crash b4 the game had a chance to load. ive read on the forums certain ways to fix this problem i.e reinstalling with no trace of the game being on the laptop, different directory locations i even updated my laptops bios fixed registry files with ccleaner and defragmented the laptop and im still having this problem i run window 7 maybe that could be the problem i have the uac turned off and now im stumped on wat else to do
bben46
Win 7 is not the problem. Many people are using it with no problem at all. Laptops can be a bit of a pain when used for gaming - their video and audio steal RAM and clock cycles. so even if you start with 2 G Ram, by the time your Video card takes some, and your audio takes some ,and your system takes some, and any background processes take some, you may be down to less than 1G for the game. Oblivion can use up to 2G. I saw a big increase in performance when I went from 2 to 3G on my desktop running XP. but not nearly as big a gain when I went from 3 to 4G. Note: a 32 bit XP system cannot use the full 4G. But my current Win7x64 can. Here is a link to Bben's Crash Helphttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=298. Also, just running a registry cleaner may nor remove the game - if it is not run at the right time and in the right way during a uninstall. The entries in the registry must be recognized as not belonging to any program (orphans) before they will be cleaned by most cleaners. Also, if your cleaning is set too light - it may not clean them. and if it is set too heavy, it may clean things you wanted to keep - such as the cookies that hold passwords to sites you visit a lot (you will just have to reenter the passwords) I prefer CCleaner as it's default seems to be almost right - you still have to tell it to NOT remove cookies if you don't want to reenter passwords - do you remember all of them? mcdeansthename
Thank You for the links but i run win7x64 4 gigs of ram with a processer of 2.6 to me it doesnt seem like it is the actual specs that are causing the problem your guides were helpful and i followed them to a T but the problem still presists i was thinking that the problem maybe be a registry file that for some odd reason ccleaner is not fixing or deleting the problem could certain programs hinder the capabilities of oblivion being able to load
