Ok now i uploaded a file called negro race...And after that some 2 guys told me that im a racist...RACIST!!!! I DK WHAT the hell is the racist!! I thought cuz no one think of that idea i thought oh...I will have 100 downloads at least...And they tell me im a racist...? Why ....? What the hell is racist anyway??? >:(

Unless your mod portrayed Blacks in a demeaning and degrading light, I see nothing racist about your mod concept and name. You probably made a playable race in your mod, so I doubt it cast Blacks in a bad light or people would not be downloading it and playing as a Black. Nobody would want to play a playable race that made them look bad, so I don't think yours would have made people look bad.

 

I don't think you should have pulled your mod down. I guess you could rename it just to be safe and and upload it again. I imagine a lot of people would download it.

 

The whole name game is pretty lame. The word "negro" is not derogatory and is still in use. There is a kind of music piece called a "Negro spiritual." There is a big organization called "The United Negro College Fund." Thirty years ago, you were supposed to call people "Negros." That was the proper word to use. I am not sure exactly when it was decided "Negro" was wrong and Black was right.

 

Around the time of the American Civil War, the people were called "n****rs." This word has become a swearword because of the association with slavery. It is kind of silly because that word is a corruption of the Spanish word "Negro" which means "black" and was the proper word to use for the longest time. I guess English-speakers decided that they wanted to be called black in English rather than in Spanish.

 

There are lots of Redguards in Oblivion and people like to play them. I do not know why anyone would complain about your mod. People who want to play as whites can be Imperials, Nords, or Bretons. I would think that people who wanted to play with a darker complexion would welcome the choice of your custom race and Redguard.

 

You're right...But the best mod i've got was with cloud ruler temple and then i stopped coming to this site and it was down...(my acc) so now any mod i upload in 7 days it has 22 downloads....So i better dont make mods when i dont know what people like :-\

It's unfortunate. I would have understood peoples anger calling you a racist if it was named something other than "Negro" - A worse word for example.

 

But I'm with David Brasher on this one. If the mod was never meant degrade blacks, then there is no problem at all with this mod. It seems that the people who called you racist for it were just shallow and don't have a clue what negro means.

 

 

I'd say to you, reupload the mod under a different name of something like

 

"African" instead of negro.

You did it all wrong. You should have reported those guys. And to be honest mods can't harm anyone so there can't be anything racist about them, at least not with your file since you mentioned that. You should reupload it again. ;)

internet is not all.

in most languages, "negro" is a racist insult, and the use of this word is prohibited in many countries.
