mfrizz20
Hi Everyone. I normally play my videogames on my ps3/4, and indeed have invested many hours into new vegas already on the ps3. However after seeing some of the stuff on here, and not knowing how long until a new fallout will be released, I'm thinking it may be worth it to buy the PC version as some of these things could make it a brand new, possibly even better experience. However I'm not that computer savy and so I'm a bit apprehensive. Any advice you guys have on here for a newbie to this stuff would be much appreciated. Some questions I do have.I have a nice toshiba laptop with about 700 gigs memory but I don't really know anything else about it in terms of playing games. If i tried to play on my laptop would the game work well, or would it be slow and indeed not work at all? If I got the game and started downloading some of these mods how will that affect the performance. The only other game I've ever played on the computer was sim city. I some of the stuff I downloaded for that would not work right without downloading some other stuff and it became a cluttered mess. Are the mods for this similar, is there a way to avoid the clutter? Are there any particular things I need to know to do and or avoid? In terms of mods themsleves. What I'm looking for:Sharper graphics, better character appearence, additional gameplay/story. Thanks for the help it is much appreciated.
ABurningSky
As I recently bought New Vegas, and promptly installed lots and lots of mods on it I can say definitively that, if you can run the game unmodded, then provided you don't install and ENBs or texture packs, it should run basically the same as it was unmodded (And I had, what, about eighty nine mods running at one point?).Only you would now have oodles more content~ That being said, your hard drive space isn't really relevant to how fast the game will run, only if you have the space to install it (And the mods you'll surely aquire later). What you would need to know is your processor, RAM, and graphics card, which should all be pretty easy to figure out ^-^Though if you have a 700GB hard drive, chances are your computer has the muscle to run New Vegas perfectly fine. bben46
Before dropping the money on the game, please check the rest of the specs on your laptop to be certain it can run the game. Many laptops have integrated graphics that have problems with games like New Vegas. You say you have 700 G memory - But I think you mean hard drive. Memory is usually considered RAM. - and no laptop that I know of has anywhere near 700G of RAM. You will need at least 4 G of RAM memory. A compatible video subsystem and a few other things. Absolute minimum specs RequiredCPU - dual core 2.0 GhzRam - 2GBVideo - Nvidia Geforce 6 or ATI Radeon X1300 or better - (many laptops use an Intel video that doesn't work and also steals system RAM)Disk space - at least 10 GB This will run the game - but not at any great fps or video resolution. And will also be limited as to the mods that are used. Here is a link to a site that has the recommended minimum ( much higher than the advertised minimum) http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=589&game=Fallout:%20New%20Vegas Most people find even this to be not enough to give the great results they want. I know it's a Toshiba satellite from about two years ago. Dual core I5 processor but beyond that I don't really know.
