So, I got the PC copy of DA:O(used to have it on 360). After asking around I learned how to install DAzip mods and the ones you need to put in the overide folder. I then cam across a few mods which when I download do not come in ZIP folders and after placing them in my overide folder they don't have any affect on the game. The mod i really want to install is Party Recruiting v1_0. In the comments section it appears that other people can install the mod with no problem. Could someone help this newbie out? thanks in advance.

essentially what I would recommend would be to download and install damodder. it will greatly reduce the amount of effort involved in installing mods that are .zip or .dazip.

With this particular mod, the author has packed it up as a .rar file. In order to install it with damodder you need to convert it to a .zip folder.

If you dont have a program that can handle .rar format, you can get winrar free as a trial from www.winrar.com tho I myself prefer 7zip which can handle the 7zip compression commonly being used, along with .rar

simple decompress the files in the .rar folder and then make them into a new .zip folder, then drag and drop them into the damodder program. the program will ask if you want to install it, and after a couple of verifications, will install the mod for you. it can also uninstall the mod for you as well.

I should also warn you tho, that this particular mod....some people can't get it to show the new characters in the party selection screen. We've no idea what causes it, and right now, don't have a fix for it. So, if you change one of these guys out of your party, and then want them back again, you'll need to make a new saved game, uninstall the mod. force load the save, and save it again, with the mod not installed. then reinstall the mod and load the cleaned save. Thats only if they don't show up in your character selection screen tho. Hopefully, you're one of the peeps where they will show up there. ;)

Good luck :)
