Aventhorn
Theres a lot of machinima out there at the moment but I think out of all the games if any programmer is skilled enough a movie making mod would really be a great experience for movie fans and budding movie makers everywhere. There's probably a few things that would be good to add in such a mod. Environment controls: Weather, day/night, maybe even the effect that happens when you near an oblivion portal. NPC control and placement: since there is a huge amount of NPC's in the game you could use them for actors and extras. But maybe also an editor like the main one so you can create your own actors. Also the free use of enemy characters and animals. Animation controls: A panel to use existing and maybe a few new animations that can be added to holding facial animation, creature animations, human animations, battle scenes and special effects like magical effects. Camera Control: full ability to place a camera wherever with maybe a fadeout option and a record/stopplayback function. Clothing and props: the ability to put armour on actors plus weapory clothing. The ability to fully put props in rooms. Compatibility with other mods. If theres a few more ideas feel free to add, if any modder/programmer is up to the challenge go for it.I know its asking a lot and a lot of this wouldnt be possible but I'm sure someone could reverse program a feature like this and there would be a lot of grateful fans out there. Ok i said my piece :D
Alanador
Not sure about that one, it might be a tall order. I think those abilities have to be in the editor, like UT2004. I've done some simple camera work and actor moving in that editor (UnrealEd) and have not seen the functions available in the TES editor for Oblivion, although I am much less familiar with the TES editor and it is more than likely that I missed it. If it is not already hard coded into the game structure I'm not sure if they could then be scripted to play out as a movie (with camera independance, flyby, boolean curves etc,). We did alot of fly by shots, triggered acting sequences involving movement with custom animations, and even created our own environments from scratch, mesh and custom textures. Basically we made about 4 sets in total. It was more of a learning period than any particular project that we worked on. Machinima in Oblivion style would be fascinating. As soon as I can break away from the game and this site I'll do a search online and see if anyone has utilized it in that way or has plans too, that'd be a start. Aventhorn
Tha would be cool, yeah i dont think it'd be a walk in the park but I think if anyone could pull this off it would be a great tool. I cant see any huge lord of the rings style epics but a few short films would be cool. I think if anyone was to attempt something of this scale it'd have to be a group effort. I know nothing of modding though so I cant say for sure how many people would take but I know they made something similar for vice city and san andreas.
